  1. Man, long hair doesn't do it for Bill! wow. Growing up in Canada, I don't think I've ever seen that Labatt logo before.
  2. Happy birthday, and enjoy the weather!
  3. Chris, thanks for remembering to close the porn window before taking that picture
  4. what about the sopranino? I often can't tell the difference

    Anthony Braxton

I thought that Clean Feed was coming out in February. Anyway, the Important records 4-disc set is only $23 from CDUniverse
  6. that Braxton Willisau is the 4-disc box, right?

    Miles Davis

I've been on a big Miles kick from Birth of the Cool to Pangaea since I bought the Downbeat Miles David reader, the recent Richard Cook tome, and the Prestige Quintet box set in December. I never get tired of any of this music
  8. Wow. I had no idea he was that sick. I spent the first money I earned (in high school, painting part of a girlfriend's parents' house) on that first record.
  9. no worse an idea than "instructions on proper search engine usage"!
  10. I filled my 30GB iPod within a month of getting it and am constantly switching out albums. 30GB is not that big if you choose to import at a higher bit-rate than the default.
  11. Shouldn't this thread be in Misc. Music or Discography and not Artists anyway?
  12. wow, the Complete Hank Williams (10 CD) for about $24!
  13. what's a chat room? isn't that what this whole place is??
  14. I'm hoping to be able to make it to tomorrow night's set in Ann Arbor, but I've been awfully sick all week so I'm not sure if I'll be able to.
  15. Sure he did. He pitched in the NL for quite some time before he went to the dreaded Red Sux. The difference to me though is that Maddux didn't have to throw at hitters to keep them off the plate like Pedro did. Maddux had superb control, better than any other pitcher I can think of.
  16. he's nowhere near as flashy as most of the big names, but Greg Maddux in his prime Atlanta years was the best I have ever seen. The way he made the best hitters look foolish grounding out to the pitcher on a routine basis was pretty amazing.
  17. what I've heard of him (Suspended Night and the rarum disc) I haven't found too interesting. Never had the urge to go back and listen again.
  18. Because this thread is in the Forums Discussions folder? But it's 6 pages of discussion about someone thinking about joining in the discussion elsewhere on this board. I just don't get it.
  19. why discuss the board? Just DISCUSS!

    Anthony Braxton

    So did this happen?
  21. Thought so.
  22. Any chance there's a tape of that performance he did with Coltrane??
  23. well, the end is near. A new "concept store" opened in Ann Arbor today. It reminds me of Barnes and Noble, or maybe even Media Play. Sad to think that the flagship store downtown had an entire room dedicated to jazz (it still has a decent selection), and now this new store has 3 rows only in the jazz section. For a joke I checked out the Coltrane selection-a few of the Plays for Lovers compilation, one or two other compilations, and Ballads. It's hard to believe but I have bought a few Braxton titles at Borders over the years! http://www.mlive.com/news/annarbornews/ind....xml&coll=2
  24. Sure it is. Science is definitely an academic journal, with more popular interest-type of material at the beginning of each issue, written more for the layman. The latter two thirds or so are usually very academia/professional scientist oriented. As a professional scientist, I reference Science and Nature occasionally in my work.
