sorry, the ladies of Desperate Housewives are on.........I gotta watch that!

I disagree with this. His last two records were two of his very best-Time Out of Mind and Love and Theft rank up there beside anything he did in the 60s or 70s. To me his voice now sounds more and more like any of the best blues singers.

very hard to predict what dylan is up to. you may hear what seem like new songs that turn out to be radically reworked versions of his own standards. I've noticed that he's been doing some Neil Young songs in his recent tours (from last spring, at least)

I've noticed this too. It's like I'm talking to myself sometimes. I make a comment and it gets completely ignored, as if it never happened. Sometimes I think that maybe my post shows up only on my own computer and not on anyone else's! It's usually around that time that I feel it necessary to wander into the political threads to shake things up a bit

has anyone ordered through the downtown music gallery web site? looks somewhat confusing. They seem to have the best price on Braxton Dortmund.

compared to most people I know, I'm light years ahead of them in terms of musical adventurousness-just the mention of any music that doesn't conform to the formula makes them squirm (must be verse/chorus/verse/chorus/wanky awful guitar solo/chorus/chorus, all sung in a monotone with an angry or pained tone, and NO DEVIATION from that). But I think compared to the good people here (and the bad people........ ) I'm still a junior. Thankfully there are people like Chuck here to point me in the right direction (thanks again for the Braxton recommendations Chuck!!)!

I too am glad football is over. That is one game I've never fully understood, and hence was never all that interested in it. But man oh man the Braves are looking mighty slim. I predict Smoltz will be out with a blown elbow by June, Mondesi and Jordan will be hitting about .220 or so each, and Andruw will be traded to the Yankees at the deadline. But the Tiggers got Magglio!!! And the all-star game is here this year. I hope I can at least get tickets to the HR derby (not that I like that event, but to get in to the game itself will be more than I can ever afford, and I gotta catch something during all-star week!!)

Michelle Mercer? uh-oh

I'm expecting a 2-disc "Legacy Edition" with the original album on disc 1 and some of the extra material on disc 2, in 5-10 years

Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper"
GregK replied to AfricaBrass's topic in Miscellaneous Music
you do realize that this song is about the French struggle for independence in Canada, right? -
I'm really puzzled as to why Legacy is no longer adding bonus tracks to these reissues. They could have added something to In a Silent Way, Jack Johnson and now this one (why not Autumn Levaes from the same concert??)

WHERE DO I FIND TOUR DATES???
-
From the opening page, there is a column on the middle left that lists a few "just added" titles. Click on the "more" link under those titles, and then you will get a full page of all just added titles, sorted by best selling (why I'll never know!). From that page you have a drop down box which lets you sort them in various ways. Change the sorting to "just added", and then on page three after that re-sorting you will find the Miles boxes
-
I simply checked the "just added" titles under the rock/pop category and all the new Miles sets came up on page one or page 2
-
I wish they'd release some archival stuff-why not more from Jarrett's American quartet? They must have recorded lots. I'd also like to hear what SACD could do with the "ECM sound"
-
looks like the reissued long-box Miles Davis box sets Complete Bitches Brew, Complete In a Silent Way, Complete with Coltrane and the Complete 60s quintet are now in yourmusic.com (I didn't see the reissued Gil Evans one)

Exile was remastered around 94 or 95. The remaster sounds great, a lot better than the original CD, but of course not as nice as the vinyl My copy of Exile dates from 1994. It doesn't say whether it's a remaster or not. From the booklet in my copy, bought in Canada in 1995 (1994 issue): "Digitally remastered by Bob Ludwig for Gateway Mastering Studios. Remastered using UV22 Super CD encoding by Apogee Electronics, Santa Monica, California. Apogee UV22 is a unique new process capturing all the fine detail of the original analogue master on standard audio equipment." This quote also appears on the back cover. I haven't checked any stores lately, but I assume that this issue is the one currently available. Additionally, this issue was the reprinted issue in standard CD jewel case that came out after the limited edition gatefold issue that was packaged in a clear plastic case. I have Black and Blue and It's Only Rock and Roll in that special packaging, and they also contain the same remastering credits, and they indicate that they were printed in the USA.
