  1. Well, I don't think I could ever give up desperate housewives (with the sound off, of course. who needs to hear it?? watching them is just fine..... )
  2. I'm still voting for Nessa
  3. i make drugs and try to listen to good music every day
  4. this is something I seriously need to do too. Congratulations!!
  5. Of course there will be a Club release covering this period eventually. Every other period has been covered. Even the ProjeKcts have been! ElektriK is a good disc, by the way. I prefer the Power to Believe songs on that disc to the studio versions. And that tour box came in the mail yesterday-it's an audio CD housed in a DVD case, with press conference and interviews interspersed with some demos (Happy with what you're happy.... is on it in demo version) and Fripp soundscapes. The booklet is interesting as it show each player's gear, with lots of technical detail, if you're into that kind of thing. And there are some (as usual) exhausting but fascinating comments by Fripp about the frustration of it all!!
  6. after one listen so far, I'd say yes indeed. The whole band really sounds ON. I didn't listen close enough to notice any tempo differences, but everyone sounds like they are really responding to each other. I had no idea their entire Woodstock performance was this good. I will be going back to this one a lot!
  7. I agree- I just got this today from yourmusic.com (only 3 days after I ordered it!! wow!)-the extra tunes from the sessions are quite "jammy", probably a good decision to leave them off the original release as they aren't all that interesting for the most part, although the bonus Treat is outstanding. And the Woodstock performances are blistering!!! My oh my they were really inspired or something that day. Carlos has a nice raunchy tone on the Woodstock Jingo
  8. I'm curious too Bev. I just reported what I saw in the last page of the booklet for the latest Club release (live in Warsaw 2000). I agree with you-that period has some of Bruford's most interesting (not necessarily best) playing
  9. I wouldn't even have known anything about that if it weren't for the people I work with who watch that show and insist on discussing it the next day. Thankfully my wife doesn't subject me to this show. Her "reality show" choice: that swimsuit model search on Wednesday nights
  10. Next King Crimson Collector's Club release: Heidelberg 1974
  11. it's worse than it sounds-we live in an APARTMENT!!! so I haven't slept in about 25 months, and I'm sure the neighbors haven't either! I'm usually forced to type with her on my lap, giggling at all the smilies (she likes them too ). Yes, that explains why most of my posts make little to no sense
  12. I want to go. The Firefly is a nice little club, and of course Organissimo ROCKS!! It's only about a 20 min drive for me, so I should be able to make the first set and still be home in time to put my daughter to bed (she has a late bedtime, it works, you do whatever you can to get them to sleep through the night!). Everything for me depends on how my wife is feeling-we don't have family or close friends here, so if she isn't feeling well (she is 5 months pregnant) or doesn't do well on her exam that afternoon, there's no way I can leave her at home alone with this wild little 2 yr old!
  13. I've used the yahoo one for the last three years. I've also used CBS sportsline, and they are pretty much the same thing, the only differences that I could tell were the graphics and the presentation of stats, etc. The actualy playing is the same between the two. Pretty involved from day to day (setting lineups, pitchers, etc), but you can make the rules go any way you want. You can change it so that you change lineups once a week, for example. Whatever suits you. We do a live draft, where we all meet at the site at a certain time and day and take turns picking players. And no matter who I pick, I always somehow end up dead last, not even close to even 5th place
  14. This quote is repeated in the Quintet box set notes
  15. was there ever any mention made of Miles Davis' death on the Carson show? I mean, was Johnny a fan? I wonder if Doc did a tribute or if Johnny mentioned anything at all. I say this because of the earlier post referring to the Hancock/Shorter et al tribute band that appeared on Jay's version of the show
  16. all through the clinton/lewinsky mess, there were two people who's commentaries and wit I truly, sorely missed: Frank Zappa and Johnny Carson
  17. I agree with you-I used to like Jay when he came on and did his stand-up, but I've never found much to like in his version of the Tonight Show. I gave up watching him once Dave started his CBS show, and only came back to Jay maybe once or twice a year.
  18. Terribly sad news. Johnny was the best. He was always funny. I started watching him in the mid-80s-I remember seeing Jerry Seinfeld for the first time back then on his show. I need to get those DVDs
  19. I just noticed that this is now in yourmusic.com. I just ordered it for $9.98!! The best part is, I was going to use my Borders 25% coupon to go get it today (full price was probably somewhere between $24-29), but the snowstorm kept me home. Out of curiosity I was checking the yourmusic.com site for new additions, and there it was!! Fantastic!
  20. man I LOVE these wicked snowstorms-particularly on a saturday when we get to stay inside and listen to music! This is about the only good thing that can be said about living in an apartment, as I watch the guys clearing the sidewalk and parking lot from my window!
  21. I've liked every In a Silent Way presentation that I've heard-of course nothing touches the original, but they're all good
  22. I second the Panthalassa recommendation. Everything on that sounds very nice, with lots of space between the instruments. I've always loved how the In a Silent Way material sounds on that too
  23. I wonder who gets Coltrane's horn? I really hope it goes to someone who understand what it is and what it represents, and not some ignorant "cool" yuppie who wants to simply impress people
