If the boys in blue wanted to play for a national championship, they should have eaten their Wheaties on their trips to Eugene and Iowa City. I will be rooting for them, though, to pave the way for LSU's first championship in 45 years.
at least OSU are below Michigan!!
they have the Coltrane Ballads Deluxe?? I havent seen that in there, but A Love Supreme deluxe is. I too have wondered why choose certain discs and not others
Isn't it Guaraldi? I think he's not quite jazz but certainly has a jazz "feel", more so than, say, Diana Krall or Norah Jones. I think he does tend to lean toward the easy-listening side of cool jazz. I do enjoy the Charlie Brown Christmas CD though, for whatever that's worth
Bing, of course, and the Charlie Brown Christmas by Guaraldi is a staple. It's a Wonderful Life, Charlie Brown Christmas, Christmas Vacation, and for the first time for me, tonight we will be watching Holiday Inn on TCM!!
Staying in Ann Arbor, MI, for baby's first Christmas, and hoping that winter will finally show up here. We get 1-2" of snow and the weather people go nuts screaming for people to take cover from the wicked bad snow storm! These people need to see a Canadian winter!!
I am very unfamiliar with these fellas, but I was listening to the snippets from their ECM rarum disc in Borders and it sounded like something up my alley. Any recommendations on this, or their new one, the Tribute to Lester??
Yeah, it has a lot to do with perspective. I had little to no expectations because I have never heard any of Vitous' previous releases, so I heard it with a completely open mind. Now I am trying to figure out what I should listen to next....
I think this is one of the very best records of the year, by any stretch. I have listened to it consistently since I bought it. The trio pieces are fascinating, and that "ECM" sound suits the dynamics of the trio perfectly. Excellent release
