  1. Can we expect James Baker soon? he'll be right behind Jesse Jackson I'm sure
  2. nobody here has heard this?? I thought there were at least a few ABB fans here, at least more than Janet Jackson fans ....
  3. sorry, not a fan of Latin jazz at all
  4. yeah, sign me up for this on the day its released. I would prefer another fancy box set like the others in the studio recordings series, but anything will do, as long as it comes out. I'd also jump at the chance to hear some live recordings from the 60s quintet
  5. I was wondering if anyone has heard this and what their thoughts are. It's from their Beacon run last March. Their latest studio record is very good, so I'm thinking that maybe this one might be worth getting, as it is a mix from that studio record and some of their classic tunes
  6. I plan to ride my mountain bike to work and back every day, about 6.5 miles one way. Last summer was the first time in about 14 years that I had even been on a bike so I took it easy and only biked one way each day and had my wife drive me the rest of the time. Great way to get some good listening in on my mp3 player too
  7. what's a wanker?
  8. maybe if she had the original Elvis (aka the KING) to play on it I'd check it out, but otherwise, umm, no
  9. whoever mentioned Sharp Provolone above (I'm tool azy to go back and check), THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I found some and tried it on a grinder my wife made for me. Wow, this is the best tasting cheese I have ever encountered!!
  10. I don't have the stamina to type all the worthless artists that bother me, but I have to agree with the comments about Dave Mathews, Ozzy/Sabbath, and I'd like to toss in (these are off the top of my head because I've heard this garbage in the last couple days): the Doors, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, and pretty much anything in rock and roll nowadays. Well, at the very least I have to acknowledge a lot of the recent popular crap for shoving me (very willingly!!) towards jazz!!!
  11. well, this is all I need to know about that magazine. I'm never buying it
  12. I try to watch this show every night; I think it's the funniest thing on TV, and, despite it's blatant liberal bias, I actually think the news coverage is valuable. They do try to book a decent balance of liberal/conservative guests too, when they aren't booking celebrities to just come on and discuss their latest movie.
  13. how do you plan on talking with him? Do you have something scheduled with him somehow? I'm confused. Ask him if he has any live CDs of these shows he's currently playing coming out soon
  14. Oh yes, I forgot about Lloyd. I wish I had seen him
  15. I'm quite pleased with the live music in Ann Arbor. Last Friday I saw Ornette Coleman, in February I saw Organissimo, and in the past 3 years I have seen Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock (both leading their own quartets and in a duet, 3 different shows) and Keith Jarrett. Plus, as mentioned above, the Bird of Paradise and Firefly Club have live jazz pretty much all week
  16. Atlantic, Village Vanguard, Impulse Quartet, Live in Europe (Pablo), and the Miles. I'd say I listen to the Village Vanguard and the Live in Europe ones the most. Thought about getting the compilation box titled Legacy if I see it for a good price
  17. well, I have the SACD too, but I'm not going to force it down anyone's throat, so it's gotta be the other guy!!
  18. this discussion makes me want to go pick up a couple CDs.
  19. man, you can't go wrong with any of those selections; I picked Exile because it's a double album so there's more music, but really I find all of them to be representative of the Stones at their best (even Goat's Head Soup!!). Anyone have any comments on the recent SACDs of their 60s reissues?
  20. never is it possible to have too many CDs. It took some convincing for my wife to accept that I need SACDs of CDs I already had 2 copies of (Japanese and US in some cases)
  21. that was my first thought too, when he picked it up-"that's the plastic one!!!!"
  22. Congratulations. Are you commuting between Ann Arbor-Detroit-Toledo? If so then I hope you have LOTS of patience; I-94 around Ann Arbor is about to start it's annual rage-inducing rebuilding make-work-project until Memorial Day. I feel truly sorry for those who must commute along the Interstates in southeastern Michigan! like you said, more time for listening to music!! Hey, maybe it will be easier for you to stick around on Fridays to check out the scene at the Firefly or the Bird!! Those Michigan drivers!!!
  23. so how do we convince him to release a concert like the one in Ann Arbor last night? Man I'd be first in line to buy it!!
  24. I believe Bill Evans shared your opinion
