Just a note to get the discussion going on a forthcoming Mosaic set with all the Oscar Peterson Verve Trio's with Herb Ellis. Sceduled for later this year. Will post more details when they are mailed to me by MC. Correction: It's 1951 to '53. All the sessions with Barney Kessel before Herb Ellis joined!

I think they've used the original French Radio tapes for these issues so I guess the sound is as it is and the Metro just used these too so no better version exists. The Metro Village gate isn't that great sounding imo.

Also based on the unissued recordings of Lee with Harold Mabern it's ovbvious they have a real report together. More of them together would have been superb imo.

Bless you Greg M. for not bothering with "sonic" upgrades. It really can become an obsession. Luckily in this case the extra $$$ was very well spent but in other cases I should have kept the older and not bother.....

To my ears the Blue Moons sound terrible. The fact they are 24 Bit doesn't say a thing since they are "remastered" from not original sources. The Mosaic set is a revelation when it comes to sound. I've had multiple Japanese versions as well and the Mosaic smokes them all.

Those long boxes for cd's where to prevent them for being taken out of a store without paying (I was told). This was before the now common electronical devises which grace store entrances.

Where can I find some more info on this? It's not on their web-site.

Just returned from Stamford and this set is surely going to be issued this year. I don't have more details since I'm not interested in this set. Indeed as mentioned in this threat sales volume went up from Europe/Asia and Australia and shrunk in the US. The up side is the total volume didn't shrink!!!!

Because it's not on Verve originally. It's on MGM.
