  1. Late: there's another threat about that reissue in the reissues section.....
  2. According to the Lord: The Party's Over : Ruth Price & The Norman Paris Trio & Quintet : Ruth Price (vcl) with unknown acc. New York, early 1950's By myself Street of dreams If I love again (I'm afraid) The masquerade is over I had the craziest dream Bye and bye You stepped out of a dream Take my love I am the girl Something to remember you by The party's over I guess I'll have to dream the rest
  3. Greg M. if you really want Road Time just order it as an Japanese import (I did) which is still available in Japan. Hiroshi Tanno (hiroshi@earlyrecords.com) might be of assistance.
  4. Lon and John: did you actually listen to the set as a whole? I sold it because I thought the Ellington band was so drunk or on whatever they were at the time they played awfully. Maybe you heard things I didn't......
  5. John L: maybe it's time to buy an Apple iMac!!!!!!
  6. the Lee Konitz???? Which one.
  7. In fact they are all Bass Desires type tracks. McCoy is only on the cover for this cd............
  8. Just received the Mangelsdorff box sets. They are regular jewel cased cd's for each LP one CD in a carton box. I guess they are going to sell them seperately as well at a later stage. That's good news for people who only want Zo-Ko-MA (Chuck?).
  9. But there's always the catch of being charged by the customs if the order is too large or to expensive. Most (if not all) shipments upto $60 are usually OK in the Netherlands but this varies per country.
  10. 2 of the German CBS LP's (Now, Jazz Ramwong & Tension) are obtainable through L+R (and fairly cheap). Recently another of the German CBS LP's (Folk Mond & Flower Dream) was reissued on CD by NEKTAR (German label). Interestingly Pacific Jazz issued an LP in the 60's called Now, Jazz Ramwong which has tracks from both the LP's issued by L+R.
  11. always something to complain about..............Like the King and Chuck I'm very happy to see these at all on CD.
  12. Bertrand: first thing which comes up was a bit about the first recording by Jimmy Smith or something which wasn't correct. There were more of these but of course I forgot about them (why should you remember errors...)
  13. I'm sort of an audiophile but don't consider myself an audiofool so it all has to add up. I'm not endlessly checking cables and other combinations of equipment but just know what I want and try to go for that. (dCS Elgar plus and Verdi LaScala dac and drive, B&W N-802, Accuphase E-530 and all Siltech cables).
  14. THe Cook Book was full of errors (obvious ones since even I could see them). I expect the Kahn book to be of much more interest.
  15. The reason MC did this with the Steig is that this contains all the trio tracks with the band and leaves out the duets (which are not particularly interesting).

    Billy Cobham

heh Lon are you into art lately?
  17. Jim how much did you pay Michael for this raving review? (Just kiddin', added because my jokes are usually misunderstood.......)
  18. The Gap sealer is a needle drop for sure. I didn't listen to the second LP so I can't comment on that one. Didn't like the sound at all.
  19. does this have anything to do with Doctor Freud? Because if it does I'm outtahere.....
  20. Oh well I'll refrain from joking since it's not understood anyway (except for Lon but he's one of a kind I suppose).......
  21. On the forthcoming Japanese issue they've managed to oil it out so get that one!!!
  22. maybe the reflections off his camera caused the extra bash........
  23. but the overtones aren't so it does matter where you put them especially in regard to the acoustics of the hall.
  24. It's Toshiba's answer to the Universal SHM-CD I guess. Don't know what it is exactly but we'll soon find out.
  25. On a side note the carton sleeve cd's do not come with a jewel case. All the others usually do!!!!
