Gilius was one of my teachers at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the 90's. He's also a composer. Don't know if he's related to the guitar player (they don't look alike but that's not definitive).

Maybe one is a 2 LP set and the other a single LP? Then we would have 14.
  8. Just count and you'll see it's 14.
  9. Are you also going to sell the dogs? If so I want them jewel cased!!!
  10. Still eagerly awaiting Jim's answer...........
  11. The last batch of these isn't released yet so that might explain the unavailability of them.
  12. Now wouldn't it be "interesting" to know which session this is? Please let us know!!!
  13. The sessions above are not the ones on the Octet Emarcy CD. 14. Yes, Moody only plays the flute on that one (and sings on 1 track).
  15. Hello all, just noticed some interesting reissues from Universal in the original series. Maynard Ferguson's Emarcy Octet is one of them (never on cd I'm aware of). A WIllie Bobo, John Klemmer and Hugh Masekela as well. Any thoughts/recommendations on these?
  16. The booklet for sure.....Didn't compare the sound but they are indeed identical material wise.
  17. You're sure you were not at the $2.99 store?
  18. If that's what keeps them in business I'd say OK (but I doubt that's it).
  19. Yep Caiman ships through New Zealand. Still my nr. 1 online seller. You just have to keep track of the discs which don't arrive and let them know about it. You'll either get a refund or a reship so no problems ever for me from them.
  20. What's the music like on this? Big Band? Strings Acutally both!!! I really like the vibe on this one. Not pure jazz but nevertheless great music.
  21. Not complete Columbia but we might see some reissues from that era on Mosaic (singles or Contemporary).
  22. What a loss to the jazz world. I've just bought some trio cd's with Erskine and Pasqua. They will get a well deserved spinn later today. RIP Dave.....
  23. Natural Essence: TOCJ-4274 issued in 1997...yeah those were the days you could find a TOCJ with the LP number after it.
  24. Yeah I bought a lot of them in Manhattan (between 8th and 9th av and 23rd street if I remember correctly). Someone sold those on the street in front of the Leo House (very strange)!!!!
  25. Mike: think 70's. Most acoustic jazz recordings start sounding quite horrendous when the 70's proceded. I think it has to do with the fact the technology became more sophisticated and complex (more is less so to speak).
