  1. I've kept a diary of the shows I have seen. Wish I would have done that...
  2. At a $2Billion pricetag, to make any money the ticket prices have to go up a LOT, parking, too, etc. They could wind up like the Yanks, where going to a game is out of reach for most folks. I went to a Yankee game in 2001, and a guy on my job gave me tickets. They were 8th row between third and home. Face price of the tix? $50 Today, those seats are $1250 and frequently go empty.
  3. I have no idea, it's almost a 40 year time period.
  4. I made sure to teach my now 19 year old son how to tell time. And yes, cashiers are unable to make change unless the register tells them how much the change is! I was in the supermarket a few weeks ago and an older cashier was showing a young one how to make change. Talk about befuddled looks!!!
  5. The train resembles the photos I've seen of trains in India, where people ride all over the train. India is also the scene of a Dow-induced tragedy(Bhopal).
  6. I understand what you're saying, but I look at it a bit differently. Denver went 8-8 with a very good defensive team, but an offense that needed quite a bit(It looked to me that the comeback victories Tebow got credit for were also games where the defense did a great job holding the other team.)of juice. With some cap room to possible add a receiver or two, and if the defense plays well, they could win 11+ games in a weak division. That might get a first round bye and then they have to win two games to get to the SB. Unless Elway never cared for Tebow as a QB now or in the future and this gets rid of Tebow without any flack and Elway gets someone as a future QB in the next year or two?
  7. There's also a LOT of $$ involved. I know a guy who's in a bunch of fantasy football and baseball leagues, and last year he made some nice $$.
  8. I was listening to sports talk radio for a few minutes tonight and there seems to be a snag in the deal. If so, the Jets should thank their lucky stars and back away from Tebow- he's a terrible QB whose only value to the Jets is in a wildcat formation, which should be passe pretty soon as defenses figure it out.
  9. He may sit in with the Allman Brothers if he's in NYC this month- thy're big fans of his and he's sat in with them a bunch of times. IIRC, Haynes is the last man standing who played with both Bird and Trane.
  10. Thank you, Big Al, for the Rangers rants(I enjoy them, it's a real fan talking), stories of your son, and of course, the music talk. You're one of the folks(among many) that make this place fun to visit.
  11. At this point Peyton Manning is an unknown- is his arm regaining strength, is it just a noodle? A lot rides on that.
  12. Bad news for Met fans- Fred Wilpon says in the NY Post today that he(and his family) intend to own the Mets for a long time.
  13. Nice to see you back!!!
  14. On the Weather Report disc '8:30' Wayne Shorter does 'Thanks for the Memories' on solo tenor.
  15. I don't know about that. Suitable tracks for your exit? Any suggestions? Sun Ra 'Nuclear War is a Mother*****r'
  16. Sad. When McCarver was one of the Mets announcers, they would complain about his comments. My one hope is that the Madoff Trustee wins his case against Wilpon and his brother in law and they have to sell the team. I can already imagine the chants of 'sell the team Wilpon, sell the team'. A shame, with an owner that's not broke they could do well. It looks like they want to be the East Coast version of the A's.
  17. Hilarious with quite a bit of truth to it.
  18. How many hangover homers? How many while still drunk from the night before? He also missed a good part of a season supposedly with syphilis. Add in the prodigious quantities of food and he HAD to be amazingly talented to hit like he did! After a night of chasing hookers, drinking and immense amounts of food it's a miracle he got out of bed!
  19. I thought the same thing, that perhaps he had a terminal disease and didn't want to spend a year or two in utter agony. RIP to a pioneer.
  20. His homer totals were so extraordinary that he outhomered entire teams!
  21. That disc is one of my favorites, a voice that could knock a wall down with a singer who knew how to use it. RIP, she will forever rock the house.
  22. That was true in the regular season, but the Giants have run well in the playoffs. Of course I'm biased as a Giant fan, but I like thier chances. To me, both defensive teams are excellent, but the Giant offense is much better than the 49ers offense. Weather and other factors can change things in a hurry, though.
  23. He doesn't have cojones!
  24. Sounds like it. Did you make it to the extended gigs Mingus and Blakey had at the Top of the Gate in '74 and '75. This was somewhat later, but were you at the Rollins concert where he collapsed on stage, while Wynton was soloing? Missed those, did Rollins collapse as a result of Wynton's solo?
