  1. If you lean towards the avant garde, Downtown Music Gallery is very good. here's a link: http://www.downtownmusicgallery.com/Main/ If you're looking for basic mainstream/catalog, J&R is also very good, with frequent sales. here's a link: http://www.jr.com/
  2. .....got that right!! If she's dressed like that and she leans over the board, do you lose your concentration completely? I might be thinking of the next move, but it would have nothing to do with chess(maybe chest)!
  3. I saw the original MO in '72 & '73 at Central Park and they were mind-blowing both times! In '72 I was 16, and this was a great departure from the rock/blues I dug. As it turned out, MO opened the door to Miles and that opened the door to everything. In '72, I had bought the Inner Mounting Flame based on a reviewer in the Village Voice calling it the 'album of the year' . I played it nearly every day and it didn't click, even though I knew there was something of substance there. Go to the concert, and BANG- it all made sense. The show I went to in '73 was one of the nights that became the live album.
  4. Hello all, I got an interesting email about the River2River Festival in NYC: Anthony Braxton’s Composition #19 - Marching Piece for 100 Tubas Internationally acclaimed for his seminal role in the development of late 20th century music, composer, saxophonist, and MacArthur “genius” Braxton premieres his parade piece for four bands of twenty-five tubas. 1:00pm-2:00pm. Oval Lawn & WFC Plaza. The concert is on June 4
  5. Its probably correct that he signs with them, but as of now, it looks like people are jumping the gun. Both Clemens' agent and the 'Stros owner are denying the report. ...and that's a shock??? Isn't that standard practice these days, deny it all and then the next day hold a press conference to trumpet the thing you denied all along?
  6. Thanks for posting that, Alexander. A truly tasteless and very funny parody, perfect after a crappy day at work.
  7. Bertrand, I'll contribute- let us all know what happens. And you, Bertrand
  8. I'm guessing that this guy didn't smoke- if he lit up a cigarette, he might have exploded!
  9. Good one, but I think he'll take the moolah.
  10. If you have $1.6Billion and you're in your sixties, what's $400Million? Peel it off, say goodbye gracefully and enjoy your $1.2Billion.

  12. If Bonds had never used any performance-enhancing substances(HGH, steroids, etc.), he'd have over 500 HRs now and there would be no doubt about his HOF credentials. Bonds went and ruined a perfectly good career in pursuit of more and more and more...
  13. Regardless of context, this idiot Star threatened to do some gross and disgusting stuff to someone's 4year old girl on the radio. NO SYMPATHY- he deserved to get fired, and if the authorities find a crime, prosecute his stupid ass.
  14. Thanks for posting that, Lazaro- my son and I watched it and I can see why it took so many takes to get it right.
  15. Hello all, I 'm thinking of ordering some stuff from Squidco for the first time. Any thoughts, negative or positive. Thanks in advance for all replies.

  18. Anybody have any info on the John McLaughlin? Universal UCCV 1092(New) Mclaughlin,John(g)/Industrial Zen 2548
  19. BADOOM CHING! If I may add one, #11- Tony realizes he's been living a lie all these years and goes to NH and finds Vito and they live happily ever after.
  20. After last night, I wish it would have been Artie that was killed. How many ways can they have Artie freak out? Does it have to be shown over and over and over... We get the idea that he's losing it, we don't need to be beaten over the head with it!
  21. Was that the one recorded at the Museum of Modern Art? If so, I very nearly was there. Me and a friend went to the concert(It was a freebie, so looooong line to get in), waited and waited, they started letting people in, and the person before me and my friend was the last one let in! We wound up heading downtown and caught Lester Bowie and Brass Fantasy(with Howard Johnson & Gravity, a multi tuba band opening for Lester), and they were GREAT! That concert was also free.
  22. Or he could have tried to cook the placenta as the 'Anal Retentive Chef'
  23. I'd cook it and make a nice sauce for it and then eat it with her.
  24. The following is actually a true story: I met my wife at a wedding- she caught the bouquet and I caught the garter, and that's how we met. So, the first time I spoke to her I was pushing a garter up her leg in front of a lot of people! We hit it off very well(She was willing to put up with my musical tastes, even going to some concerts with me), and within 6 months we were living together. Within two years of the date we met we got married in a historic church(on the same site for 350 years), and this September we celebrate our 19th anniversary.
