  1. For thin crust pizza John's is GREAT- there's one in Greenwich Village on Bleecker ST. and I believe there is one near Times Square. For Junior's(ne plus ultra of cheesecake), just get the 'R' or 'B' or 'Q' train to DeKalb Ave in Brooklyn and go right upstairs and enter cheesecake heaven! They also have eggcreams, which have neither eggs nor cream in them. If you're REALLY adventurous for pizza, the place that is hailed by many for the best slice in NYC is DiFara's. To watch Domenico DeMarco make a pie is to watch an artiste at work. You may 45 minutes for a slice, but it is well worth it. 'Q train to Avenue 'J' in Brooklyn, walk one short block and you're in pizza heaven. The area is no problem as far as crime, etc.
  2. Someone in a NYC tabloid suggested that at that propitious time to go to a Brazilian restaurant near my job. Their address is 123 45th Street, between 6th & 7th Avenues!
  3. If all the hippies cut off all their hair, I don't care.
  4. Up with some price reductions.
  5. I went to see it a couple weeks ago because my son wanted to see it. I reluctantly agreed(I'm not a rap fan) to see it, and I enjoyed it very much. Chappelle is very funny just hanging out, and the bit he does with the band and 'Hit me' is hysterical. The thing that really made an impression on me was how much I enjoyed the rapping. It was all done with a live band, so the performers were not at the mercy of prerecorded tracks, allowing the music & the performers to breathe. The rappers also were not gangster rappers, so no diatribes about how many guns, hos, bling, etc. Instead, they embraced positivity and struggle for freedom.
  6. Jim Campilongo is a verrrry good guitarist in the rockabilly/country vein. Does he get much of a chance to play on this one?

  10. Have Wynton, in a teary-eyed reconcilliation scene, produce Doo-Bop? Followed by Stanley Grouch saying that he always loved electric Miles and he wants to get Albert Murray to listen with him.
  11. I seem to recall(IIRC) a live album that had Herbie Hancock and Jack Dejohnette on it and they did a somewhat funky version of a cut from Sextant(Hornets?). Anyone else remember that one?
  12. Roy Haynes recently sat in with the Allman Brothers Band for 'Afro-Blue'. According to the review I saw, everyone laid out and let RH solo, and the band wound up standing around the drumset watching the master at work. 81 and still kickin' butt
