Hello all and many thanks for your recommendations. i got hold of the 'Sound in Action' trio and I'm liking it a lot. Of course, that means more $ on MORE discs.

If they keep Wang & Chacon their rotation gets younger right there.

I don't know if Torre will be fired, but he might just quit. He may have hit the end of the line in putting up with Georgie Porgie's BS and constant criticism. I watch the Yanks nearly every game, and I thought that this year may have been Torre's best in terms of managing. After all, he lost plenty of pitching(Yanks used 14 different starters this year!) and had some glaring holes and still managed to get the team into the playoffs. As for Cashman, there's talk that the Phillies may be interested. It's a bit difficult to accurately judge Cashman, since every good deal is claimed by the Tampa clowns and every bad deal is his. I give him lots of credit for shaking the team up by promoting Cano(work in progress) and Wang & making the deals for Small & Chacon. It'll be interesting to see how he does on his own. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe JazzyPaul picked the Chisox & Cards for the World Series many many pages ago in this thread, and so far it's moving that way. I'd like to see the Chisox end their lonnnnng schneid and win a World Series. Bosox in 2004, Chisox in 2005, are the Cubbies next?

Well, then y'all are just about due for another one, doncha think? That said, I'm far from counting y'all out either. Boston's a proven post season contender, and I'm sure that you guys are all drooling over the idea of a rematch of last year's ALCS. So, I have to hope that Freddy works his magic on the road again today. Either Dan or I will be talking shit in about 2.5 hours or so, methinks... ← Well, start talking!!! Congratulations. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this last game once El Duque came in. If the Yanks get past the Angels, it definitely will be tough getting past the team with the best record in the AL. (To think that El Duque and especially Contreras might do us in, ugh!) ← El Duque should get the posteason Houdini award!!!

The hanging curveball that Wells threw was much worse.

I started looking online for places to get news and views about jazz and toss my occasional $0.2 into the fray. I went to the Jazztimes BB, which devolved into a taunting fest with trading insults. Next I tried AAJ, but everytime someone said something that wasn't mostly vanilla a moderator jumped in and quashed the discussion. That reminded me too much of my Catholic grammar school days, so I nixed that. But what did come through once on AAJ was a mention of organissimo, so I tried .com & nothing, googled and got nothing and finally hit on org! I love this place, it's lively with tons of knowledge(I've learned a LOT here) and also a lot of people with a good sense of humor.

Don't ask me, I don't even turn it on or charge it half the time! The other half I don't even carry it!

I was a little surprised at the firing of Trammell, but I think 2 things hurt him. One was how unexpectedly well they did in 2004. The bigger problem is Jim Leyland wants to manage again and Detroit is trying to grab him. Though I don't like the Dodgers I too thought Tracy did the best he could with what was given him. But the lack of playoff success over the past 17 years is tough to take, so when in doubt, fire the manager. ← I thought the Trammell firing was a case of 'fire the manager because you can't fire the players'. Trammell didn't sign Pudge(I'm 35 lbs lighter and can't hit for power anymore & I hate walks) Rodriguez, Magglio(My knee is a wreck, but I'll take the $15mil a year you're giving me) Ordonez, or that expensive closer that I can't name right now. Maybe the GM should have gotten the ax.

Now can someone release some Joe Farrell Quartet with Joe Beck on cd- please?

The Tribe just lost a tough one, 1-0 to the Devil Rays while the Chisox won. The Chisox lead is now 3 games with four to play.
-
This coming weekend may be crazy, with the Chisox & Ttribe playing three to close the season and the Yanks & Bosox doing the same. Right now there's a thre-way tie for the wild card with the Yanks, Bosox & Tribe, with one as division leader. I'm hoping ESPN will carry Chisox/Tribe in NYC so that I can watch both Yanks/Bosox & Chisox/Tribe. Will the Tribe ever cool off? They're the hottest team in baseball right now.

And all this time I thought it was a really big hair dryer!

For the original question, he was hit by one of three trains: R, N or D. As I recall reading somewhere, Woody had seen Max Roach that night, and Max gave him money to take a cab. Woody pocketed the money and tried to take the subway instead.

Congrats, guys, you deserve the exposure for that disc. here's hoping that lots of people hear it and BUY it! -
Yeah, but Wickman's arm is gonna fall off! I see him in the highlights every damn night it seems! Berigan, I love to see guys like Wickman or 'El Guapo' who used to be on the Bosox, guys that don't look like athletes, guys with beer guts who can't run. Baseball is about the only sport where guys that look like the usual guy you might see anywhere are actually good players.

FWIW, I think the Yanks/Bosox will go down to that final series, with the winner going to the playoffs and the loser going home. They'll split the first two with one last game for all the marbles. Alternatively, since the Chisox & Tribe also finish the season in a head-to-head series, we could see the winner of that series in the playoffs, the winner of the Yanks/Bosox series in the playoffs, and the wild card one of the losing teams. Whatever way it shakes out, it certainly promises to be interesting and exciting for fans of those teams and baseball fans in general. Why,last night I was pumping my fist and cheering like it was a playoff game when the Yanks came up victorious against the Birds. Dan, remember that hope is not always rational but is sometimes rewarded handsomely.

Hello all, I'm not familar at all with Ken Vandemark and I'd like to check out some of his recordings. As you Vandemark fans know, he has a lot of recordings out there and even a massive box set. Can anyone recommend one or two recordings? Thanks much for all replies.
