  1. He played a cool dude. He was badass. R.I.P.

    New Monk

Listening to this now on Spotify. Excellent sound quality. Looks like I will be adding this to the collection. Big surprise.
  3. Nothing. I have visited a dozen times and would love to live there in another life.
  4. Happy Birthday, Hans!
  5. I was also thinking about this release, but might wait for a better price than what is available presently on Amazon.
  6. I have a good chunk, not all of Hank's recordings from this era. Good chance I want in on this. Very exciting news.
  7. Ok, new to me. Not so I imagine to many of you fellas. Anyways, probably one of my nicer purchases recently. Scored this on Discogs for $12 and change and I am really enjoying hearing this. I guess one could classify this as cool school, correct me if I'm wrong? I don't own his Blue Note dates, so this was my initial landing point. I guess I should probably look into those recordings as well. That said, if you don't already own this, perhaps this might be something of interest? I imagine this will get numerous listens in the coming weeks. Very nice. Certainly a fine lineup for these sessions. August '56 and January '57. Please post your thoughts and impressions.
  8. Gosh, how I look forward to those days without the thought of having to work. Almost 32 1/2 years logged in, Paul.
  9. Some nice clarinet from Art on this album.
  10. Going back for a moment of the call on Reggie's home run, boy did that bring back memories for me! Growing up and listening to Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek doing MLB games on NBC. Good times!
  11. I've bitched and complained that the dodgers should have made an offer to Harper. With the money from that Spectrum contract and all the season ticket holders they get in LA why go cheap at this point? Again I'm not suggesting that the dodgers are cheap with one of the largest payrolls in baseball but really do they need to worry about the luxury tax threshold witth all the money they're bringing in? It doesn't matter now at this point.
  12. Judge, Harper, then Stanton a pitchers nightmare.
  13. As much as I dislike the Yankees, don't ever count them out on Harper. Forget the public statements.
  14. Geez and I thought I was the only one who thought that.
  15. One of my favs.
  16. I've been on the fence on the latest Dolphy release so holding off on that for now. Instead picked up these 2 Resonance releases. Never minded the funkier side of Grant Green. Your impressions, Peter?
  17. Basie Roullette Studio Recordings. I have the CDR's and would love to own the set, but way too much out of my price range at present. That might never change.
  18. Amazing stuff. I really have to shake my head what this man put together at such a late stage in life. I believe he was 90 at this point? Highly enjoyable.
