Going back for a moment of the call on Reggie's home run, boy did that bring back memories for me! Growing up and listening to Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek doing MLB games on NBC. Good times!
I've bitched and complained that the dodgers should have made an offer to Harper. With the money from that Spectrum contract and all the season ticket holders they get in LA why go cheap at this point? Again I'm not suggesting that the dodgers are cheap with one of the largest payrolls in baseball but really do they need to worry about the luxury tax threshold witth all the money they're bringing in? It doesn't matter now at this point.
I've been on the fence on the latest Dolphy release so holding off on that for now. Instead picked up these 2 Resonance releases. Never minded the funkier side of Grant Green.
Your impressions, Peter?
Basie Roullette Studio Recordings. I have the CDR's and would love to own the set, but way too much out of my price range at present. That might never change.
Amazing stuff. I really have to shake my head what this man put together at such a late stage in life. I believe he was 90 at this point? Highly enjoyable.
What took me so long to get into Lateef's music escapes me. I already owned a few of his Savoy titles and enjoyed them. I've been listening to a good number of releases the past few days and listening to this now. Very nice live date with the added bonus of hearing the under recorded Richard Williams on trumpet.
