  1. HOLY SMOKES!!!! Thanks for posting the news.
  2. I still would rather have Happ. He would have beat the Yankees back in May except Bradley Thomas Lidge gave up a tater to Arod.
  3. I don't know about "much better" probably more like "less worse".
  4. I agree w/ most of that except for the BP. The writer is putting too much weight on the closer. The Yankees Achilles heel as I see it is the rest of their BP. Not to mention I think Lidge has pitched better so far in October. YMMV. Another thing to consider is when the series moves to Philly the Phillies will have the edge in LF because Ibanez will be playing, not Francisco. Really I think the series may come down to the Pettitte/Hamels match up. Andy looked real sharp in his last start. Hamels has been awful. I really wish they were starting Happ instead. Question for Mets fans. Who do you want to lose more - the Phillies or the Yankees??
  5. Tex is definitely a better fielder than Howard. I think he's probably better that Pujols too.
  6. What would you do for a pair of World Series tickets??? http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/philli...es_tickets.html
  7. I would put my money on Carolina. He has a beach house on Bald Head Island, NC.
  8. Sunday Bloody Sunday?? This Sunday the Giants play the Eagles @ the Linc and Yankees play the Phillies at the Bank. Man, Philly could implode under the weight of all those colossal NY egos that are sure to invade our town.
  9. The Phillies would have swept the Yankees if not for Bradley Thomas Lidge. However, I don't see that 3 game series back in May having any relevance now. Both teams are playing much, much better. I'm hoping that we get a good October(November?) Classic that isn't decided by some ump's blown call.
  10. Thanks for the update, Patrick--I hadn't seen that. Whatever happens with NY, can't wait for the Hot Stove thread come November. Glad to see NY finally put some runs on the board, but man, Oliver is on in a wicked way tonight... got Posada to hit into a double-play and shut the Yankees down cold the following inning as well. Given L.A.'s on-the-road rally against the Bosox in the ALDS, plus the Yanks' bridge-to-Mo woes, this one's going to be another nailbiter. Scioscia waited too long to pull Saunders. Looks like it might cost them the game. Also, I hope Dale Scott isn't working the WS. What's up with calling balls 4 inches off the outside of the plate strikes???

  21. This sounds like it was improvised on the spot. Worth a listen if just to hear Macca play lead at the end of the song. ------------------------------------------------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watching_Rainbows ""Watching Rainbows" is an unreleased song by The Beatles recorded on January 14, 1969 during the massive Get Back sessions at Twickenham Studios. It features John Lennon on lead vocal and electric piano, Paul McCartney on lead guitar, and Ringo Starr on drums; bass guitar is absent from the song because Paul McCartney is playing the absent George Harrison's usual role as lead electric guitar. George Harrison had temporarily left the group at this stage of the sessions." ------------------------------------------------------ I have the Norman book and read back in the 80's. I remember it being good but that might have more to do w/ it being the only one out there at the time. Probably not too much new info on them that hasn't been written about elsewhere since it was published. I also have "The Complete Beatles Recoding Sessions" and find it fascinating.
  22. Thanks. Still soaking it in. Very loud in Center City last night w/ celebrations going well past 2:00AM. Condolences to the L.A. fans. You've got a great team that will compete for years to come. I think the WFC have a good shot at the Yanks. My only worry is Hamels. Dude is stinkin' up the joint. He doesn't resemble last year's NLCS/WS MVP at all. Hell, even Bradley Thomas Lidge has got his shit together in the post-season. Ruiz has been incredible! The new Señor Octubre Oh, and MLB in all of their wisdom has the Fall Classic starting next Wednesday even if the Yanks win tonight. A week layoff??
  23. Awesome pictures. Man, I didn't think the Phils were ever gonna get out of the 8th inning. Phew.
  24. Not sure why Girardi kept Sabathia (who was pitching on 3 days rest) in the game last night w/ the Yanks up 7-1 in 8th. Why risk his arm at that point?
