  1. It's true that his teammates have disappeared this series but he shares some blame(especially late in the game) last night too. 8 turnovers and some incredibly dumb decision making. I was thinking during the game how he compares w/ MJ and Kobe. While he is the most physically gifted of the three he doesn't have the intensity that either of those guys exhibit. He won't get it done this year (or next unless there are some big roster changes i.e. a real PF and real PG for starters) and I think going to the Knicks would be a step back for him. Chicago would be interesting. I think a Rose/LeBron pairing would be great. I don't know how he would mesh w/ Ben Gordon though. If he wants a ring real bad he should just take a 1 year deal from Orlando. Dwight Howard and Lebron??? Sick.
  2. There are five fundamental forces in nature. 1. Electromagnetism 2. Strong nuclear force 3. Weak nuclear force 4. Gravity. 5. Dwight Howard.
  3. I agree on the first one but the 2nd one was a great non-call. Howard was just as guilty as Varejao. Let 'em play, ref!
  4. He fanned Wes Helms for the final out!! Man, I can't take another Mitch Williams performance from Lidge. And it's only May.
  5. Jesus H. Christ! The Phillies had a 5-0 lead going into the top of the 9th and now thanks to a Ryan Howard error it's 5-2 and they just put in Lidge. Pass the Tums. Edit. Walked the first batter on 4 pitches!!!
  6. Going into yesterday's action, Raul Ibanez was leading the NL in homers (17), RBI (43), Slugging (.739), extra-base hits (29), total bases (122) and HR ratio (9.71). All while hitting .347 Oh and he's 6th in the NL All-Star balloting. WTF? In the outfield, the guys on the heels of Braun include a scrum of All-Star veterans, with the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano (545,354) and the Mets' Carlos Beltran (476,843) in line for starts by running second and third. The outfield's second tier is comprised of Ramirez (442,763), the Brewers' Mike Cameron (432,034) and Raul Ibanez (399,969) of the Phillies. Soriano is the 2nd leading vote getter for OF??? He of a .250 batting avg. and 46 whiffs in 42 games?? Way to go Cubs fans. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...8&fext=.jsp
  7. Pierre Henry - Messe Pour Le Temps Présent (Philips, red label)
  8. Agree with this assessment of the Bennett years except I really like Yankee Foxtrot Hotel, on which Bennett had a large role. In fact I would put that LP at the top of their work. YMMV. R.I.P. Jay. Whoa seeing that Uncle Tupelo comment reminded me of a show that I saw with UT opening for Teenage Fanclub. Gotta dig out that ticket stub....
  9. Really? Dang, that sucks. If that holds true then pressing quality will kill the vinyl resurgence quicker than you can say"illegal download." Von Freeman - Have No Fear (Nessa, black label)
  10. This morning's listening thus far consisted of.. Walt Dickerson Trio - Peace (SteepleChase) Hamilton/Batiste/Carter/Murray - Clarinet Summit (India Navigation) I obtained both in an even trade for the two LPs from yesterday.
  11. 32?? You're still a young pup. Happy Birthday. Looking forward to seeing you when the big O hits Philly.
  12. Went to go see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's Circus "Zing Zang Zoom" today with my wife & son. Tonight I'm going to see Marshall Allen and the Sun Ra Arkestra in honor of Marshall's 85th Birthday and Ra's 95th arrival on the planet.
  13. Cluster - Cluster 71 (4 Men With Beards, 180g) Another day and another bad repress. Actually unlike the "Wizards From Kansas" LP this sounded amazing but it had a big dimple at the end of side 3 which caused a loud click for the last 90 seconds of the album. So annoying. What's even more annoying is that I bought both LPs about a month ago and the receipts are long gone so I can't return them. Off to the used record shop I go...... Edit: should read "at the end of side 2..."
  14. Well at least it didn't cost us the game this time. Damn. Philles should have swept the Yanks. Johnny Damon has definitely lost a step. He got thrown out at home for the second time this series and today's play wasn't even close. Did anyone catch Teixeira's HR off Hamels?? The pitch busted his bat about two inches above his grip and it still made it out thanks to the wind. That park is a freakin' joke.
  15. Jesus H. Christ! Lidge blew another one.
  16. Did you guys see that 3 pointer that Kobe hit with like a minute to go to put the Lakers up by 2?? Man the net barely moved. I have to say that this year's NBA playoffs is one of the best I can remember. Most of the series have been incredible(Well okay the Cavs/Pistons was pretty lame) and these two are no different.
  17. 11 HRs in 2 games thus far in the series. They have to move/raise the fences. It's like watching Mitch Williams all over again. They have got to do something about him NOW. If he's injured, shut him down and put him on the DL. If it's a mechanical issue send him down and let him work it out in the minors for a couple of weeks. A stint in the minors worked great for Myers last year. They can let Madson take over until he heals his knee/arm/head.
  18. The Wizards From Kansas - S/T (Mercury, reissue) Great album, shitty repress. Man, is there anything more MADDENING than opening a new vinyl only to find that it sounds worse than the cd/original beat up LP copy?? I tried cleaning it on my VPI and found it made a slight difference. As the saying goes you can't polish a turd. Alas.
  19. Watched the Phills beat the Yanks tonight. It might as well have been a home game for the WFCs as there were more Phillies' fans at the game. I'd say 60/40 in favor of the Fightin's. Still a lot of empty seats behind home plate. Both teams combined for 7 home runs tonight. And people complain that the Phils' park is a band box. Ha!
  20. Roscoe Mitchell - L-R-G/The Maze/S II Examples (Nessa, orange label) Scored this for $10 on ebay. One of the few "Near Mint" ratings that actually holds up.
  21. David Stern must shitting bricks at the thought of a Orlando/Denver final.
  22. Richter/Mimaroglu/Avni/Carlos - Electronic Music (Turnabout) mono
  23. Andrew Hill - Shades (Soul Note)
  24. Minnesota is POUNDING the White Sox right now. It's 20 - Zip in the bottom of the 8th. At what point do they call the game?
