  1. Check this out.... MLB park factors sorted for HR. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfa...amp;season=2009
  2. No. Well, I've tired of Chris Berman's routine. He doesn't announce a baseball game so much as he pontificates his way through it, rambling away with all sorts of self references and other musings on a variety of well-worn topics while his bewildered partner tries to follow along. It's rambling and ... oh by the way, there's a beautiful double play! We'll be right back. Agreed that Berman has jumped the shark. However, what he does as an announcer has absolutely no effect on the outcome of the game or HR stats unlike the Yankees new home. They need to raise and/or move the fences. If the Phillies moved their left field wall back and didn't go bankrupt from the loss of revenue that the missing rows provided I think the Yankees should be able to do it too.
  3. Jerry Moore one of the first(and one of the best!) tapers died in his sleep last week. To read more about him and his contributions to Deadheads everywhere click here and here.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=290607013 He definitely touched the rim but the rim never moved. Not goaltending http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_11.html
  5. NL All-Star update. Good news - Ibanez is now first among outfielders by a comfortable margin, Manny 5th. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb

  12. Hmm.. that's weird. I would send an email to the Cecil Taylor list serve. It might take a couple of days to get an answer but you will definitely get one. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/CTResearch/
  13. Well, It's funny...the mutts win even with a cast of nobodies and has-beens. Braves have less luck with has-beens. If the Marlins hadn't fallen apart, it really could have been their year. Phillies should try to get Penny and then a #1 or #2 guy. J.H., have you heard of any rumors of Cliff Lee??? You get him and have Penny go 5-6 innings and only give up 4 runs a game, and you guys win the east. Or will Bastardo, or whatever his name is, get called up??? Don't want anything to do w/ Penny. He usually starts off fast and then is done by August. Haven't heard a peep about Lee. Bastardo started this week vs. the Padres and went 6 strong innings for the win in his MLB debut. However, I don't think he's ready quite yet. He basically throws 3 pitches - fastball, fastball, and fastball. He couldn't locate his slider or change up all night but that could have been due to nerves. J.A. Happ is looking pretty good though. 4-0 so far. What the Phils really need is a right hand bat off the bench that can play outfield. EDIT: F*ck. Lidge just blew another save. 2nd in row vs. the Dodgers and 6th on the season. Memo to Uncle Charlie.... Shut him down. NOW.
  14. Lester Bowie - The 5th Power (Black Saint)
  15. Are the Mets doomed again by ghosts from the past?? The future has been written for the 2009 New York Mets, and it is not good. They are modern day Jobs, all of them. Only in this run, there is no reprieve. A team with baseball's second-highest payroll will win, oh, 85 games and finish 10 games behind Philadelphia. They will add someone -- Aubrey Huff? Nick Johnson? -- to the mix, sing his praises, find a groove, then sink back to reality. They will fire their manager, trade off their prospects, talk about the new Mets, the fresh Mets, the exciting Mets. But they're still the haunted Mets. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...x.html?bcnn=yes Frankly w/ the Phillies starting pitching ERA hovering around 6.00 and Lidge just giving away games like Santa gifting presents, I wonder if this obit is a tad premature....
  16. Randy Smith, R.I.P. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4233659 I used to love watching him play w/ McAdoo against the Baltimore Washington Bullets. Damn.
