  8. Forgetting for a minute what a nightmare putting a retroactive * in the record book would create... I still don't think you can do it because apparently he just tested positive this season only. You can't do that ...if you could prove evey player on the team was doing roids maybe. in 07 i don't think Lowell, Ellsbury , pedroia, papelbon , Schill, Beckett, were doing roids. and even if you do Roids doesn't mean you will win Championships ....A-Rod, Giambi ..... It wasn't roids anyway. I bet it was weed! "Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me," link From the link.... However, two sources told ESPN's T.J. Quinn and Mark Fainaru-Wada that the drug used by Ramirez is HCG -- human chorionic gonadotropin. HCG is a women's fertility drug typically used by steroid users to restart their body's natural testosterone production as they come off a steroid cycle. It is similar to Clomid, the drug Bonds, Giambi and others used as clients of BALCO. Clomid??? Holy crap. My wife took that stuff a couple of years ago when she was trying to get pregnant. It turned her into a stark raving mad lunatic.

  14. OH YEAH! Man what a great show! Last night was my third time seeing Reptet and this was probably the best show(and like Peter I only caught the first two sets) that I've seen from them. These cats are super tight and outta sight! Can't wait for the new vinyl. Nice to hang w/you Peter. Hope to see you at the Brötzmann show on Wednesday. I just want to encourage everyone in the NYC area to go out and see Reptet tonight. If you have other plans already change them. You don't want to miss this band. Seriously.
  15. Charlie Rice beats the rap! http://www.philly.com/philly/news/homepage...ts_gas_rap.html Life is back in tune for Charlie Rice, the venerable jazz drummer who was accused last year at age 88 of stealing gasoline from the Camden school district. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office yesterday dismissed official-misconduct charges against Rice, after he spent the last 11 months fighting them in court. ..... Originally from West Philly, Rice sat behind the drums for some of the biggest names in jazz, including John Coltrane, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. He continues to play every once in awhile.
  16. Are the DPs OOP??
  17. Yet another victim of the swine flu.... I had tickets to go see Japanese noise artist/musician Merzbow on May 19th. He canceled his show today. The reason given was fear of contracting the swine flu. WTF??
  18. According to Wiki he has Alzheimer's.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horace_Silver
  19. Glad to hear that you're alright. The Pistons need a major overhaul, I'm afraid. AI expiring contract clear $20 million in cap space so that should help.
  20. Yes there is definitely more in the book than is on display.
  21. Tonight it's Reptet at Chris'.
  22. This afternoon... Charles "Bobo" Shaw & Lester Bowie - Bugle Boy Bop (Muse) Jemeel Moondoc Quintet - Nostalgia in Times Square (Soul Note) Anthony Braxton & Joseph Jarman - Together Alone (Delmark) Cherry Redman Haden Blackwell - Old and New Dreams (Black Saint)
  23. I work about a two minute walk from the ICA. I went to the show on Thursday. Pretty cool but, I'm not sure if I would make a special trip to Philly just to see it. It's a small show and I would guesstimate that the album covers(and related material) make up about 50% of the show. Also, sad to say but some of the material is rapidly disintegrating. For instance, the original painting that was used for "Jazz in Silhouette" is crumbling. A large part of the lower right hand corner is broken off.
  24. ????
  25. So are the BYGs from the original tapes?? I'm assuming the Savoy issues have better sound?
