have any of you heard of this bill?

Wow. I can hear them now putting this lineup together: "Shit ... we need someone on trombone." -
Nice pitching on both sides, for the most part. Kazmir still farting around too much on the edges of the plate, gets himself predictably into trouble inning after inning. Tonight he was able to wiggle out of it, mostly. Take back one pitch and it might have been a 2-1 Rays' win. But the Rays bats were over-matched tonight. That said, a 1-run loss on a night when they couldn't get anything going (except for basically one inning) may offer a glimmer of hope.

Mike & Mike mentioned it this morning. Apparently the guy is a total wreck -- he's broke, the bank's foreclosed on his house, he's completely impotent and now saying he's sorry he ever wrote a book about roids in baseball in the first place. Hard to know what to believe with this guy, I guess.

Game 7 of the ALCS sets viewership record

Yes, seriously, he's been away quite a while. Have the administrators been in contact?

no more tv for old people, come 2009!

The really funny part is, it's probably pretty close to the truth! -
I think this photo is like the video tape in the movie "The Ring." Everyone who stares into the ghostly image dropped here seemingly innocently by a stranger, will have some horrifying musical experience in 7 days. 7 days ...

It is kind of ... unbelievable. :eye: All props to the Red Sox. It was a battle. Hopefully, the first of many classic battles these two teams will have come fall. Couple of observations on the ALCS, best I could tell: * A young Rays staff, untested in the post-season, out-pitched a really good Red Sox starting rotation, no doubt a superior rotation when fully healthy. Beating Lester twice? No way that figures to happen. * The long ball -- Rays bats caught lightning in a bottle just long enough to blow up a couple of games and carry them to a 3-1 series lead. The way the Sox battled back was unreal. That Game 5 will go down as a classic lesson on why you never leave the ballpark early in the playoffs. Or any time, for that matter! * The Boston bats -- Ortiz hitting something like .150 for the ALCS killed the Sox. It's a different series if he's hitting anything like he's capable. Youkilis and Pedroia were mostly solid, downright scary at times. But after that it tailed off pretty quickly. I'm sure Dan and others can break it all down better than I can, but overall the whole series (the whole season, really) just had the feel of right time, right place, and the Rays grasping the idea of "playing in the moment," as Maddon likes to say. One pitch at a time. That's baseball!! And in this one, every pitch cranked the tension up another notch. Ain't nothing like playoff baseball (I'm finding out). Phillies should be solidly favored. I'm just hoping for a good series where both teams play the way they're capable. Another Game 7 would be a real treat! Again, all props to the BoSox. They're still the beasts of the East and sure aren't going away anytime soon. Same time next year, if we're lucky.

Is 'Willow Weep for Me' an old chestnut? -
All the best. ...

Pretty sure Maddon would keep his guys focused. Mid-season's a different story, but I don't think they'd take the bait today. Should be a charged atmosphere tonight though. I'm working, but will be able to watch the game there, of course. I'm almost halfway hoping we have some sort of classic tonight that breaks Boston's way in the 9th and the series goes to a fever-pitch Game 7. ... almost halfway hoping.

I'm going to have to spin this one again soon. I remember enjoying it as you've described, but it's fallen through the cracks. Thanks for the reminder.

Seriously. How many TV's in Red Sox Nation were turned off before the bottom of the 7th?? Ok , i will admit it ! I turned it off after one out in the 7th it looked OVER! My friend calls me and tells me Papi hit a 3 run jack , so i turn it BACK ON and Witness the biggest comeback in ALCS. I actually passed up tickets for this game.....aarrrggghhh. Good thing. You probably would have left the game early, too. Just imagine how those people feel? Couple of observations (from someone who actually did watch pretty much the whole game): The Rays made the mistake of thinking (like everyone else) that the game was over. And they started playing that way. * Upton takes a bad angle on a ball to deep center and it glances off his glove. He should have had it. * Longoria's bad throw that would have ended the inning. He makes that throw 99 times out of 100. * Gross had a better shot at catching the game-winning double than I think he thought. He was certainly close enough to make a better play on it than he did. * Even though they got a couple of runs off Papelbon, they also left some ducks on the pond there, playing like the game was in the bag and this was all icing on the cake. * And Maddon should have yanked Balfour as soon as he sniffed trouble. Not like he hadn't seen that implosion before. If they play like that again Saturday and (if necessary) Sunday, the Sox should win the series. I just don't see Maddon allowing that to happen again. Anyways, great ,great comeback for the BoSox. Enjoy it.

Whew ... I've managed to read (mostly) through this entire thread. Summary: There was a party; big release coming; wait, wait, wait, wait; what's all the fuss over 6 minutes?; IT'S HERE!; community orgasm-issimo; who's on drums?; how do you pronounce Gillespie?; Kaplan weighs in; Nessa's busy; sales skyrocket; illegal copiers spoil party. As the last post suggested, perhaps a list of these bootleg labels would be helpful. Is there one somewhere? I guess I had an idea about JSP, but Chuck's comment about projects being put on hold hits home. BTW, I played Town Hall tonight, twice. I was born on June 22 (a decade or so after this recording).

This is an odd move. Kaz is clearly their weakest starter right now. Maddon is a mad cat who seems to pull all the right strings, but I'm not getting this move at all. Maybe he's halfway conceding the loss to Dice K and wants a shot to play for the series at home? I doubt it, but it almost smells like it. He's not usually one to over-think things like that. If he's going with Kaz, he must think he gives him the best shot at winning. Odd ... Ah, after actually reading the article it sounds like he's doing it for the sake of the bullpen, because he knows he's not getting more than 5 innings out of Kaz.
