  1. Sounds to me from what you described that the woman just had a bee up her ass to begin with. Firstly, she should be teaching her child what "polite" behavior is. I can't imagine the kid felt real comfortable with mommy being bitchy. If she came on with an attitude because of the route you were taking (you are the driver, after all), it's on her, IMO. She could have just as easily asked you politely about the route, and everyone's happy. Even if it was a misunderstanding where both parties are more or less equally at fault (for whatever reason), for her to assume your behavior is motivated by racism displays more than a little arrogance. How could she know? What she's really teaching her child is to presume the worst about people. Not good. IMO
  2. Happy birthday!
  3. I'd just like to interject here that I'm quite enjoying the playoffs. Pass the peanuts. () () :tup Carry on.
  4. True 'nuff.
  5. I haven't heard this album, but knowing that I am generally predisposed to this sort of large ensemble creative music, I would love to listen to it, and I'm sure I will someday. However .... sting ray ---> flying bird ----> phoenix -----> rocket ----> flying burning matter? Seriously? Am I being too critical? Is there supposed to be a larger social commentary here? Just a thought(s).
  6. I fully expect the BoSox to come hard Tuesday to even the series -- and away we go.
  7. That is one boat-load of potentially fantastic music!
  8. No shit. Given the chance to hear stuff from the new disc live? Hell yes, Chicago. (That disc is really starting to grow on me, btw. Must be the influence of that jazzy FM station I keep on late at night).
  9. Yes , he will ! I thought so, too. The players vote on winner's shares, so I guess it's possible they could cut him out. But the ring, I did wonder if he was entitled regardless of what anyone in the Red Sox organization might think about it. And I can't imaging the players not voting him a share. That would establish a bad precedent, I'd think.
  10. Question: If it's Dodgers vs. BoSox in the World Series, will Manny get a ring and winner's share regardless of who wins?
  11. Don't give up now, there's only a handful left!!!
  12. T.D., wherever you are, my advice is ... eat some cake! And have a happy birthday.
  13. Any more info on the CD? Unless a second album with the same title and line-up is coming out, the CD Release party is for this thread's original topic. This could be worth lugging some recording gear in for. Especially the second night. Indeed. Odd that they'd be having a "release" party so long after the actual release though. I was hoping the project might be ongoing. Anyways, sounds like two great nights!
  14. This seems like a dangerous combination to me ...
  15. Agreed on Upton playing too shallow. A guy with his wheels simply should not have balls hit over his head as often as he seems to. BUT, disagree that he's not a very good center fielder. He has great range to either side and in front of him, and has a cannon. Above average centerfielder, IMO. Just (like the rest of 'em) young. With a lot of folks already putting Monday's game in the W column for Boston, should the Rays steal that one, that puts Wakefield in a must-win situation Tuesday. And I'd say that puts the pressure squarely on the BoSox to win Monday. Even if the Rays lose Monday, oh well ... everybody has 'em dropping that one anyways. They just gotta win one out of the next three to bring the series home.
  16. I think it's gotten inside his head now. He's gotten steadily worse as the year's gone on. I can't even recall the last time he made it out of the 5th inning, let alone with a lead. I think he had something like 51 pitches through two freakin' innings tonight. And you're right, the Red Sox are all dip shits. (sixth inning and its 11:10 ... :eye: )
  17. I'm getting a headache watching this one tonight. Yeesh ...
  18. Any more info on the CD?
  19. Different people, similar concept, different album.

  21. Sounds pretty much like me, except my wife's not a nurse. ... and I'm diversified pretty much as you describe, except it's all within my 401k, which accounts for the lion's share of my retirement investments. Amazingly, the company I work for also still has a pension plan also. It's closed now to new employees, but I got in under the wire back in 1989, so that'll help if and when I do get around to retirement. But I'm looking at that 10 year time horizon, like you.
  22. Ironically -- (or maybe obviously?) -- I was listening to a discussion on public radio today on the whole market meltdown and one of the things that's happening is people are taking money out of the stock market and putting into ..... banks!! And so, what's happening to some extent is these banks are becoming more stable as people bail out of the stock market and throw their money into money markets, savings accounts, etc. So in a strange way, the market meltdown is helping the banks on one level. Of course, in many cases their problems can't be solved by deposits, I would guess. Still, it can't hurt that banks are to a large extent benefiting from people pulling their money out of the market.
