  1. Clifford Brown; The Complete Emarcy Masters. Hip-o-select. Disc 4
  2. Me too, faster,no lock ups and for the most part easier to use once you get used to it than IE.
  3. Happy Birthday John
  4. Probably mine too. These were my introduction to Russell's work.
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15917073
  6. Sonny Rollins titled one of his albums "Plays For Bird" Sonny Stitt did "I Remember Bird" on an album of the same name.
  7. Thanks marcello. Curiosity only. I've not had Monk and Bird out either.
  8. Interesting, yes. I wouldn't mind having one of those.
  9. That's one I'd like to hear. Not come across it before. I have the tribute to Monk and Bird, intriguing lineup with Thad Jones and George Lewis,
  10. I'd like to keep it "just in case". But my wife insists it goes straight in the recyling bin - so that's where it goes.
  11. Awful. Such sad news. What wonderful music he made.
  12. Highly recommended, great sound and excellent pressing quality and production.
  13. I missed it!!!. Belated greetings Bill and many happy returns too.
  14. My only problem is the sound on some bootleg albums. The sound on some those Italian vinyl boots was so poor there was no pleasure in listening to them. I suspect that a lot of the 'historic' cds coming out now are no better.
  15. Nice one dan. Bill used to play here in the UK regularly a few years, I used to watch and listen in awe.
  16. Love this record. I used to have it on vinyl, as far as I recall it was always known as brown rice.
  17. Herbie Mann; Just Wailin'. UK Xtra pressing - different cover art to the Pr issue.
  18. How well I remember that one! It made a big hit when it first came out about 1962. The first Roland Kirk I heard! On Esquire, Bill? (my pressing is on that imprint). IIRC the one that circulated among my friends at the time was on (expensive in Britain) Prestige. I still have my Esquire issue. Probably my favourite Kirk.
  19. That's a nice on KH. One that's easy to overlook. Not on cd to my knowledge.
  20. Tortelier did these on UK tv many years ago as part of a masterclass. Very striking.
  21. Yes, very sad.
