  1. The Air and the Dickerson disks look very interesting.
  2. I think 'Makin' a Move' is interesting just for the arrangements alone, but 'Where's Your Cup', IMO is a minor masterpiece.
  3. In the case of Horace, the Mosaic remastering is very good. So good that I never bothered to search out any of the TOCJs. Very tasty music. Oh yeah, the Turrentine brothers made a terrific frontline. I wish they would've recorded a lot more together.
  4. Nice pic of Threadgill Enterprise!
  5. Well there's Weird Nightmare (with Henry Threadgill) on Columbia, which is a tribute to Mingus, and Orient Express by Aki Takase, whose first track is a Mingus medley.
  6. Was watching the game until half time rolled around and the wife hijacked the tv and put Marly and Me on
  7. Found a used copy of John Tchicai's Afrodisiaca the other day, and was very impressed with the production. and notes. The music itself is quite excellent (this is my first Tchicai leader date) and I was very impressed, considering that I had really no idea what I was in store for.
  8. Yup, On Futuristic Sounds on Savoy.
  9. My favorite Impulse! period Rollins. Found used today: Bud Powell/Don Byas-Tribute to Cannonball-Columbia/Legacy Urbie Green-Urbie-Bethlehem/Avenue Jazz
  10. Have to agree, especially if there's a game seven, it would take the Cavs right back in Orlando. Tonight was the Cav's big chance to level the series and it slipped right through their hands.
  11. So I see that there's no indication that we're getting a new batch this year at the BN website so far...does anyone know if there's going to be a batch this year?
  12. Yeah, watched the final quarter and was impressed with their good defense and quick possession of the ball.
  13. This Talbots store again in the mall (which I cut through everytime to go to Eyemasters) plays some really astonishing stuff, considereing that everyone that works there do not look like jazz fans. Yesterday, they were playing some Dexter Gordon from I think, Daddy Plays the Horn.
  14. Been using the BBQ nonstop since Thursday. Tonight: burgers, brats, dogs; tomorrow: wings and ribs
  15. Tonight's game was definitely painful to watch. No defense and LeBron's missing free throws. We have some concerns here.
  16. Hope's a treasure. I'm so glad that BN re-released his 10incher's, which I snatched up in a heart beat.
  17. Ya know? Wednesday night was painful to watch when Williams miss that bucket with a second on the clock- and Williams was amazing just shooting without even having a chance to think about it; tonight though, LeBron was AMAZING!!! OUR HOUSE WENT NUTS! So yeah, we dropped a game on home turf, but tonight was a major boost for Clevaland.
  18. She has an Ipod?
  19. Saw them on the Somewhere in Time tour and Powerslave is my favorite Maiden disk. I had back in 1984, the "The Trooper" Maiden jersey from the Piece of Mind tour; wore that shirt into the ground!
  20. Yeah, I think my wife was in shock. There's talk that Kris won because of a certain "theory" about who should be an "American Idol" ...I can't vouch for said theory, but it seems "plausible". I don't know...I think I'm spending too much time on this shit
  21. Don't know, depends on your luck. Based on the ones I have, I have not seen a slew of Horace Parlan's floating around. I picked up Us Three and On the Spur of the Moment for about $15 a piece back in 1990 (not really knowing who Horace was at the time) and took a chance. On the Spur...is now one of my favs.
  22. Wife just popped in True Blood....already not digging it
  23. Happy Birthday Chuck!
  24. At the Shrine and Sweet Rain are two great records
