  1. Love the pick of Lester and Jack!
  2. Maybe The Immigrant Song for the next concert?
  3. Echo the comments above about the Ornette Golden Circle discs; I think the RVG remasters are one of Rudy's triumphs; the sounds just jumps out of my player!
  4. Good choices! If you've never heard it before you may be surprised by how special the Byrd/Watkins is. And "Stylings" is one of my 3 or 4 favorite Silvers. The Byrd Transistion dates are solid, although I wouldn't say essential. I have the JRVG's and sound is excellent. Never heard the Watkins.
  5. WOW
  6. Guess we're getting that now - supposedly 4-8" by tomorrow. I know that's a normal day for the folks in Michigan or Buffalo, so I'm not complaining. Yeah, our friend's car just got stuck in a ditch so we had to get him out, but I just realized how much snow is out there and its closer to 10 inches than 6!
  7. We got pounded with a half of foot of snow today.
  8. The one with the vampy tuba line--"Tranquility"? I haven't heard that one in a long time. Yes! I always had trouble deciphering whether that was a tuba or bass.
  9. My best time to relax is usually in the morning with a good cup of coffee and when the house is quiet, i.e., when the kids aren't up yet. 10. The WCC's were a rare opportunity to get a lot of PJ sessions that were largely unavailable in cd form at the time (as you have already pointed out); a Conn series of the West, if you will. But you see how quickly those disappeared, and that's what I believe was the beginning of the demise of the PJ material, sans the remastered Baker disks that came out a while back. Otherwise, don't hold your breath for any substantial material in the near future (sans the Gil Evans set that came out last year in the conn series and the Booker that came out earlier than that, but notice that these discs carry the BN label and not Pacific Jazz label too; a sign of their unmarketable appeal). PS: Picture of Heath was not a WCC, but a reissue of The Playboys, which already saw cd issue. POH, had a new photo of the band that replaced the racey photo of a model covering her breasts with two hand-puppets; perhaps the reason for the new cd reissue, which apparrently is going OOP too.
  11. Oh hell yeah! And add (if no one has done it yet) Strange Celestial Road. And that's just scratching the surface of Ra's avant garde/grease/free funk period.
  12. There's a section of Sam River's Crystals that may qualify as avant-grade/grease. Pretty heavy groove considering the size of the band. I don't have the disc in front of me, but I think its track two.
  13. Have a great day Clifford!
  14. Yeah, I didn't phrase that right. I meant, can we put on a single cd any Hill material that's on the Mosaic, but hasn't been issued on a single cd, that non-Mosaic owners don't have on a single cd.
  15. Yeah, that session too! I'll take any McLean they throw my way -_-
  16. Rain/sleet mix.
  17. Would like to see: Sam Rivers' A New Conception Larry Young's Contrasts Jackie McLean's Hipnosis (maybe coupled with the rejected '68 session) Tyrone Washington's Natural Essence (with the 'trainwreck' as a bonus) Any remaining Hill in the vaults
  18. I largely agree. It seemed that season four really got off to a slow start, but after the writer's strike the season really started to pick up, but by then the season was just about over.
  19. Saw AC/DC last night-great show!
  20. Back to rain
