  1. Watching the Nadal-Gonzalez match live right now, which appears that Nadal is on the verge of taking the first set
  2. Thanks for the responses. Did not know that IN leased this title from Why Not...so is the Why Not issue the 'original' album cover art then?
  3. Nice! Watched it on ESPN 2 where RFed wins the match 6-2 in the fifth!
  4. Never heard of this label...are they similar to the Difinitive/Lone Hill group? Wasn't Air Song originally on India Navigation? Did they buy/lease the rights to release this one on cd? The prices seem fair enough. Curious about the remastering. Sorry for all the questions
  5. I normally work until midnight, so there's no better time for me. I was up until 5:00AM Pacific again last night, but damn, what a match between Gonzalez and Gasquet! No kidding! What a great 5 set thriller. Go Gonzalez!
  6. Andrew Hill's Dusk. What a haunting track especially the title track. The bass line has been in my head for a good few days now.
  7. Gunther Hampel-Music from Europe James Zitro-Zitro- Both on ESP
  8. If this is your first traversal through these, you're in for a major treat! And please take note of our British export, Victor Feldman, on piano! Absolutely! I have just vol. three but these are just amazing recordings up to Contemporary standards!
  9. Get a turntable, HG! I know, I know
  10. You've talked to Brotz? Way cool.
  11. Oh yeah, and American Idol per the wife's request
  12. Yeah, with both ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel going, I'm starting to hit sleep deprivation, and it's only the first week! No kidding. I tried staying up to catch live coverage at 3:30 AM, but then I realized that I could DVR it!
  13. Thanks Clifford for the commentary
  14. I'm glad to hear that! I agree with you about the SBM editions; of the ones I own, they all sound good to these ears!
  15. One of the greats for sure. Love the BN's and the JJ and Co. on Columbia and the RCA JJ! too.
  16. Same here-hope you had a good one
  17. Australian Open, since it started non-stop.
  18. Thinking of Hat Hut, Joe McPhee, I think fits the bill here too, especially Linear B, Eyes and Old Mysteries and Topology.
  19. I'm also surprised that they're putting out Some Other Stuff. This one vanished overnight when it came out as a Conn back in 1995! Needless to say, its my favorite Moncur date, which is far more progressive and free than Evolution, and with basically the 1964-67 Miles Davis rhythm section of Shorter, Hancock, McBee and Williams, you also get a good glimpse at how far out they can go; which was way more far out than any of Miles' albums from this period ever did!
  20. If you like Destination...Out! You'll LOVE One Step Beyond. Agreed, as great as 'Destination....Out' is, 'One Step Beyond' is clearly better to me. If I could only have one Jackie McLean CD (what I sad thought!), this would be the one, as great as his other stuff is. This album is a landmark in jazz history. It, 'Destination Out!", Grachan Moncur's 'Evolution' (all from 1963), and 'Action' (from 1964) are the recordings that McLean did with Bobby Hutcherson, and all are spectacular. 'Action' has Charles Tolliver on the front line with McLean, and the others have Moncur, with Lee Morgan added on 'Evolution'. Amazing stuff. Well said Felser!
  21. Totally agree on Spring. The domestic edition never sounded that good to me!
  22. CJ, give this one a try, its one of Green's best dates, in my opinion, along with anything else Larry Young and Grant Green have worked together on! If you are passing it up because you think the sound is fine, I agree with you that the SBM edition sounds pretty good already, just like Lee Morgan's Sixth Sense (always thought this was a silly one to RVG, especially when the SBM edition was just out for a little bit) and Donald Byrd's Blackjack. But back to SofD's, "I Wish You Love" is worth the price of admission alone. Give it a chance if its the music you're concerned about.
  23. You're right. I bought this used and the dude that previously owned it had two booklets; one that was defective, which he wrote 'error', and the other one ' corrected'. Guess I missed the recall notice . So what is it exactly that I'm missing then ? Funny you should ask. I bought this used at a store from some guy who was clearly OCD. When I looked inside the sleeve, the dude held on to both books, one was fine and the other he wrote in small letters on the back "bad printing". No idea where or what he meant because there's no indication of what's wrong. The colors and print looks the same so I have to guess that there's something wrong with the punctuation or grammar. Just so we're clear , are you saying that the booklets you have are without the narrative repetition and lacuna found in the booklet I have ? Ok, I went back and compared both booklets. The first booklet, the one that the dude wrote 'bad printing' on, is the one that you indicated above with the missing notes starting right after where it says "Stan's wife and three kids were in an terrible accident" and right after the photo page starts, and then it goes right back to the beginning notes 'This reissue comprises..." Apparently, Verve reprinted the booklet and that error was rectified. The previous owner of this cd probably contacted Verve and had a corrected booklet mailed out or something like that.
