  4. Good luck Randy, it should be a lot of fun. I love watching poker on tv, so while I was in Vegas last July, I went to the Main Event at the Rio as a spectator. If I recall, the field was split up into three. So our section included Chris Ferguson (stood behind him), TJ Cloutier (got his autograph), Chris Moneymaker (sat in the audience at the feature table to watch him) among others. It was interesting to be 'coached' as an audience member because it basically goes down as you see on tv except the coaching guy kept on encouraging us to clap for our favorites when they won a hand. I guess we were all being too quiet. Greg Raymer busted out when we were there, which they announce over the loudspeaker. Also saw Chris Danneman and Rene Angelil who were sitting next to each other. And there is a constant noise of poker chips. It reminded me of a swarm of bees.
  5. 11 yrs in November.
  6. French vanilla Coffee with French toast while getting ready to watch the French Open women's final this morning.
  7. Blistering hot night last night. Slept like crap. Even with the air conditioning on, the humidity seemed to creep in and make us miserable. Then at 6 this morning the temperature was already up to 75 and its supposed to get up to the 90's mid-day today. UGH
  8. Two words: Carl Fontana! Finally 'On Stage' came in yesterday and I'm now playing it as I type. I definitely feel the West Coast vibe on this set. Nice swing and arrangements. I also remember you mentioning Carl Fontana so I've been really keeping my ears tuned to him (this is really my first exposure to Fontana although I've heard his name before) and he swings like mad! On another note, its just hard to believe that if you missed out on this series 10 years ago and now want to hear this great music that you now have to scramble around finding deals or sift through second-hand bins, so you're not paying $40 a pop on ebay or at Amazon. I have to admit that finding the Touff and the Amy at $5 a pop in various used cd bins was a thrill though; now that was worth a couple years worth of hunting!
  9. Damn plumbing It seems like the Pitt shows were pretty cool. Thanks for sharing
  10. sweltering hot and humid today which the rain made even more humid
  11. Exactly. They're one of the best, period. And living a half hour away from Severance Hall, I've been able to see the Cleveland Orchestra on a number of occasions.
  12. It started when they took away the free coffee and ended when they froze everyone's salaries and no longer gave raises; that's what prompted me to look for a new job
  13. Bought this book years ago. Finally getting around to it:
  14. 8 O'Clock brand French vanilla coffee w/ French vanilla Cream while watching the French Open.
  15. Albert Ayler's from Cleveland
  16. Sorry, what is it? I can't make out anything on the tiny picture. Here's all the info: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...rm=frooglemusic
  17. I have this set and it sounds great!
  18. Managed wiggling out of going thanks to my wife having several female friends who are fans of the show, and they went to a midnight showing last Thursday which according to her was an audience of all women and two guys!
  19. I just saw this! RIP!
  20. Great album! The duets with Konitz and Bauer are incredible!
  21. Thanks Bertrand for posting this. I think its great that Butch has started to get some attention again. Great bassist IMOP, especially on Jackie's A Fickle Sonance where Butch really impressed me with his playing edit to say thank you Dan for posting the links.
  22. So did anyone go to the Friday show? I was planning on going but I got slapped with $3000 worth of plumbing/sewage repairs last Saturday, which pretty much tapped my spending money to make the trip to Pitt.
