  2. Concerning AOTB's, this was a cd I picked up as a second thought in a used shop a few years ago. At first, I thought that it was not all that well-rehearsed and I wasn't digging Cabell (or Coleman for that matter) a whole lot especially on Rakin' and Scrapin'. It took some warming up to, but after several concentrated listens I now rank it as one of my favorite 'second phase' Patton Blue Note's. I really love those three tracks starting with Captain Nasty and ending with ite Hit and its here that my respect for Cabell's writing shot up. My appreciation for his playing came soon after that.
  3. Yeah it is, its freakin' amazing
  4. RIP. Thanks for the article Bill. I have very little with him on it (Pictures of Heath aka Playboys) but I enjoy his contribution on that and Chet's Big Band date as well.

    Hi

    Welcome to the Party
  6. Surprisngly I saw this in a B&N bargain bin a couple of years ago for $7.98 new; of course I bought that in a split second! Besides this, I have him on Beaver Harris' Beautiful Africa and he is wonderful there. Great music, great musician!
  7. Nah, its Al Foster's kit; that cymbal is on the right is way too high
  8. Just played this a couple of days ago-K2 sounds great to these ears. Just wondering: are those K2's still around? I thought Concord dispensed with those pretty quickly.
  9. Just bought Transistion last week-that's an amazing session, especially the duo w/ Jones! Like Dear Old Stockholm, I coudn't believe I went this long without hearing these sooner!
  10. Hope you already have the one simply called Coltrane with "Out of This World", etc. That's one of the other ones I'm missing.
  11. I woud've paid to have seen Trane's, just to see Ayler perform.
  12. I'm guilty of not owning Crescent yet either; its one of the last of a handful of Trane Impulses I'm missing. Sounds like I gotta have it though

Fair enough to you too Cifford well, to others it's half a sandwich or just about one beer...

    Albert Ayler

Second that. A pity that there's not going to be a repressing. Any Ayler fan in the future will be hard pressed to get so much great music for a reasonable price.

  18. Top three from those unrleased (now released) Miles covers: 3. Back from the Tracks 2. Here to Stay 1. Dimensions and Extensions Question to Chuck or anybody: does Dimensions and Extensions come before or after Hi Voltage as the last cover Miles did for BN (I don't recall the original catalogue number for D & E)?
  19. Electric. I can't shave with a regular razor; it irritates my face.
