  1. I just looked into what Orthodox Quakers believe. Even though I scored 100% on the test being one, I sure don't agree with some of their key principles. Moose, your answer is GREAT!
  2. We'll be at home on Thanksgiving (me, my wife and 2 year old son). My son is truly is a monkey, so we can't go to my Mom's house because he causes too much trouble. My wife is going to cook a little turkey, but on Friday, we'll be going to my Dad's house for a real Thanksgiving dinner.
  3. They do a great job of distracting us in America, don't they? Nice observation, Couw!

  5. That's great, Greg! It really is a great set. I've purchased all the other Miles' sets, but I just couldn't justify the purchase (especially with so many alternate takes). But I finally rounded up the funds and gave in. I find I'm enjoying the alternate takes and their progressions, the same way that I enjoy the alternates on the Sam Rivers Mosaic set. What I'm saying is that I find enough variation and new ideas to remain interested. That McLaughlin is a mo-fo!
  6. Thanks Chuck! I like the "lifestyle adjustment to sanity" concept. I'm going to think of my diet that way.
  7. My wife and were watching TV one night and there was a Joe Cocker concert on PBS. We were laughing about the fact that he sang his biggest hits early in the show. I could just see being at the concert and turning to her saying "He's done a Little Help From My Friends", "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" and "You Are So Beautiful" - Are you ready to go?" "Yup!" It kind of reminded me when I saw Paul McCartney in 1993. The place was packed when he was doing the Beatles and Wings numbers, but when he started doing the material from his newest album, there was a constant stream of people going to the bathroom, etc...
  8. Contentment pounds? I call it flying frying pan padding. I'm on a diet too. I'm doing Weight Watchers. I've done Atkins before, but I'm a carb freak. I appreciate everyone's stories. They're very inspiring to me.
  9. I'm glad there's a little light in the tunnel for you. Have a good weekend. Peter, you're right, something's up.... Good luck to you too!
  10. I'd put a cat head on the book cover for you , but I'm a little swamped right now. Maybe we should page Catesta for some drinks.
  11. I'm sorry too, for cracking jokes. This is a pretty sick situation.
  12. I hope things pick up for you, Tom! I'm in the same boat. Work is nuts, wife is nuts, I'm nuts....
  13. I finally got my set the other day. I like the Jack Johnson album, but I didn't know if I'd like the box set. I was worried about the multiple versions, but I was very surprised by how interesting the different versions were and I was surprised at how much I dug some of the unreleased tracks (especially Ali). I've listened to this set over and over. It just keeps getting more interesting.
  14. If that is true, I hope they throw him in prison! He deserves what he gets.
  15. What makes me feel like I need to wash my eyes is the fact that Michael Jackson probably was guilty of sexual offenses over ten years ago. He's had ten years of freedom to continue his sickness. The parents of the molested children allowed their kids to stay with him. Even after the settlement in '93 . I guess making jokes about it is a way of coping with the fact that we live in a sick world. Nothing surprises me anymore.
  16. I like Dan's idea about signing-up. I agree with Couw that it would be easier if it was on a volunteer basis.
  17. Thanks Chrome! Welcome to the board!
  18. I heard about 2/3 of the album yesterday. Part of me doesn't like the fact that it was built in Pro Tools and really isn't the album the Beatles had originally intended. but... I dug the sound. I dug hearing new things in the music. There was a guitar track on "I Me Mine" that I had never heard before. I've heard all these songs thousands of times, but I like being able to hear them in a new way. I'm going to buy this, keep the old Let It Be CD and LPs, keep the Get Back bootlegs I have. I figure this is just another piece in the puzzle. As for the bonus CD, I'll probably listen to it once.
  19. I hope you're right, Catesta. I don't think he'd make it in jail.
  20. I heard Michael Jackson was spotted at JC Penney's. He had heard that boys pants were 1/2 off.
  21. Well I like the ones with the cat. Couw's new avatars are great!
  22. One part of me feels sorry for Jackson, since he has no clue about reality and I can't see him doing too well in prison, but the other part is pretty sickened by the idea that he's had an extra ten years to molest children since his '93 payoff. I wonder when the Michael Jackson prison jokes will begin. He may be a "Smooth Criminal" and he may be "Bad", but I have the bad feeling that he's going to end up as some inmates "Dirty Diana" or "Billie Jean". No matter what, I'm sure it will be a real "Thriller" for him. "Say Say Say" what you will, but of these charges, I'll be surprised if he'll "Beat It".
  23. Great ideas, Al! I think about them as I fall asleep.
  24. I consider both, undergroundagent and jazzhound, valuable members of this community, just as I consider every single person who participates in these forums. That's what keeps me coming back. I hope that no one chooses to leave. Heck, I hope everybody tells a friend about this place. The more, the merrier!
