  1. I like my women with built in cupholders!
  2. Conn, I think you've coined a new term. "A pile of Wynton" = When something that seems too good to be true, turns out to be too good to be true. It turns out to be a pile of Wynton. Usage example: Question: Did you hear the new Blue Note compilation? It's supposed to have new tracks by original BN artists such as Andrew Hill, Jimmy Smith, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, etc... Answer I heard it, but it turned out to be a pile of Wynton. It only contained tracks by Ronny Jordan and George Howard.
  3. With my luck, if I bought that collection, it would turn out to be: 200,000 copies of the DVD of the movie "Cabin Boy" starring Chris Elliott. 400,000 Wynton Marsalis CDs. 100,000 LP copies of Don Johnson's "Heartbeat" album from '85.
  4. That's great news! I'll buy one too! BTW - If you need any artwork, I'd be happy to volunteer to do it for you.
  5. Cool! Maybe this should be in the "Hello Kitty" thread.
  6. Yep, sorry, but it IS that much better, at least to my ears. Heck, start selling those BN cover animations and you'll easily have enough to afford all the CDs you want! Thanks Tony. I really love this album. I told myself that I was going to stop buying remasters of CDs I already had, but now I guess I'll have to make an exception. Fortunately, this Conn is on sale at my local Tower. Unfortunately, I spent my cd money yesterday. I guess I'll be skipping lunch for the next couple days.
  7. Eric, You're welcome! and.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  8. Eric, Here's your avatar.
  9. Congratulations! I'll have to make sure I pick up a copy of that issue.
  10. I've realized that as a reviewer, I don't even know what I'm doing. I dig all those LD soul jazz dates. I figure if it was good enough for him, then it's fine for me. I'm finding it's getting harder for me to be critical. I've been trying to listen to music with a very open mind and I'm finding that I am enjoying all kinds of things that I would have put down in the past. I guess I gots no taste!
  11. Ah, you caught me! Actually, around ten years ago, I regularily would have a beer for breakfast. Ouch!
  12. EKE BBB, I hope it's a good set. I know I've been happy with my Proper boxes that I've purchased so far. When you get your set, please post a review of it. The price is amazing for that much music.
  13. Welcome to the board, Spontooneous! I guess jazz and alcohol have an association since the music is performed in clubs where alcohol is served. ....but using Miles to sell the booze is a little crass to me. This reminds me of some cd covers I made when BN did their "Art of Indulgence" tie-in CD.
  14. Great choice!!!! I'll be joining in on the fun. Tony, you're killing me! I have the TOCJ and the River's Mosaic set. Is the Conn sound that much better? If it is, you know I'll have to buy it AGAIN!! John, great avatar! I just sent you the files with 'ol James T. Cat.
  15. John, That sandwich is 'da bomb! I like how the guy pauses to look at it. Great work!
  16. Isn't this the same set that has been available on the History label for a while?
  17. Good advice!
  18. Red Garland - Soul Junction Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard Art Pepper - Meets the Rhythm Section, + Eleven, Thursday Night at the Village Vanguard I better stop, I could go on and on and on....
  19. I wouldn't even know where to start. Here's some of my OJC faves. Wes Montgomery - Full House Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners, Monk's Music Miles Davis - Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', and Steamin' The Quintet - Jazz at Massey Hall Cannonball Adderley - Live In San Francisco Shelly Manne - Live at the Blackhawk (all the volumes are good IMO) There's a zillion more, but these are some of my favorites.
  20. Eric, I'd be happy to do some work on your avatar for you! I'm busy today, but try to think of what you'd like to see, send me a PM, and I'll make it for you tomorrow. :rsmile:
  21. Usually there is a disclaimer in the bar code area. The bar code itself is shortened and underneath it, there is text that states that it's MFD for BMG Direct and then gives an address for BMG. It used to bug me, but I just can't afford to pay retail price, so I live with it. The CDs sound fine to me. Once in a while, you DO get retail versions. Lately, I've had good luck with the Verve facsimile editions (the little LP shaped ones).
  22. Happy Birthday!!!!!
  23. THANKS!!!!
  24. Happy Birthday, Conn!!!! I hope you have the BEST birthday possible!!
