I don't think he was so much a casualty of that era so much as someone who has been having some major health issues. Here's a quote from the press release on the spencerdryden.com site: It sounds like he went through hell.

Yeah, but they sure sound a whole lot better than the previously issued British versions on CD. Man these sound good to me. I agree. I just wish they'd put some care into their catalog and reissue the regular Beatles' cds before we're all too old care.

I always liked the Airplane best when he was drumming. Heck, I even dug the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Jorma Kaukonen had some kind words on his website.

We should have a cd opening contest if we ever have an Organissimo Forum convention. -
My son and I have been enjoying this, my favorite birthday gift: Hey! Hey! Hey!

You guys haven't developed your talon yet? I can open a CD in 2 seconds. ...Seriously -
I like BST's first album, but didn't get into their other stuff. I guess the group ended for me when Al Kooper left. I remember reading that Joe Henderson played with BST for an album. Is this true?

I wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I held off buying that album for years because of the short playing time. I'm so happy I gave in and bought it.

Just watch out for that Bermuda one!

You're pushing me over the edge. I know where there is a copy locally...

As one of those conceived in May, I thank you! Thanks Scott!

I will if I can find it. I just realized I have a third Agitation Free disc called Last. I need to get that out of my storage room and give it another listen.

This is available in the US. I've been wanting this for a while, but it's $50 and I never get myself to part with the cash. One of these days I'm going to get it. I'd love to see them performing, especially with Damo or Malcolm Mooney.

I know you have some Fela Kuti in your collection... That's great stuff. Let me see if I can think of any interesting Krautrock... I remember the first Guru Guru (UFO) album was good, so was the first Brainticket (it was the self titled album), their later albums weren't too hot. One interesting CD I have is by Yatha Siddra, it's called A Meditation Mass. I like some of the Amon Duul 1 stuff. The album I dig is called Paradieswarts Duul. It's kind of a tribal sing-along, but it's far better than their other albums. I wouldn't spend the money on them. I did to my regret. One album I haven't heard yet, but gets rave reviews is Walter Wegmuller - Tarot.

About seven years ago, I put around 1,000 of my CDs in the Case Logic sleeves. Of course, I kept the j-cards safe in a photo-box. I really tired of this solution within a few months, so I moved my CDs into the Case Logic 150 CD binders. This turned out to be an even bigger mistake. I found I never listened to albums I loved, because it wasn't as convenient as just reaching for a CD and taking it with me. Those sleeves that hold the j-card also look interesting, but I'd rather just find better storage solutions for jewel case cds. In the end, I've replaced about 90% of the jewel cases (I disposed of) when I took the CDs out of the binders. I use the binders and sleeves now for CDRs.

I haven't heard that Agitation Free album. I have the first two cds. It's funny, my friend who is really into experimental and ambient music likes the first cd better, but I like the second one, because it sort of reminds me of early Grateful Dead. If you can, try to hear some sound samples on Amazon to see if you like the Tangerine Dream stuff. To me, their album Zeit is a real experience. Try to hear it first. As for Kraftwerk, try to hear one of their really early albums from before Autobahn. They're different, you might like that. If the Harmonia cd you saw is the one with the detergent bottle on the cover, I suggest getting it, especially if you like Neu. Krautrock is great stuff. I wish I had the time and money to explore more of it.

Anyone heard from Wesbed lately?

That's aggravating! I'm glad you got some help. I've had my sinus infection since early November and I finally gave in and went to the doctor after the first ear infection knocked me out. -
As one of those conceived in March, I thank you!

I'm glad to see your well, Wes. I feel your pain, I've been in sinus infection/ear infection hell on/off for the last couple of months. I enjoyed a dual ear infection for the last week and a half. -
Have you read the Krautrocksampler book by Julian Cope? I think it's an interesting introduction. When I was exploring Krautrock, I was told to find albums released on the OHR label. That was the supposed to be the better stuff. Maybe look for those Cosmic Jokers albums. They're a sort of compilation of various German musicians. They're really out there. I think you might like Amon Duul II's Wolf City. It's not as out there, but it's pretty good IMO. I too like the first two Agitation Free albums. I'd also check out the early Klaus Schultze albums. Also, the first four Tangerine Dream albums are good (especially Zeit), also Kraftwerk is always great. Another group that I enjoy is Cluster, their first couple albums are good. Harmonia is a spinoff of Cluster and Neu and I recommend checking their album out. Here's a website I just found that looks interesting: Krautrock site Good luck!
