First AOTW I have and can comment on. I am infinitely jealous of everyone's cool music collections... I have been playing the plastic off MOON RAPPIN' since getting it earlier this year. I like everything about it, weird vocals and all. :rsmile:

BETTER OFF DEAD--two dollars! The carwash Lane Meyer drives the paperboy through is the same one I've had my car washed at for years here in Burbank. BACK TO THE FUTURE--Near the beginning, Marty skateboards past Burbank's first Burger King way back in '85.

All 3 sound excellent, B-3er. I hope to work a purchase into my budget soon!

I tried to play your samples and get "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" for all three. Help?

JLarsen, Yup, emusic is where I'm looking at them. I have a lot of stuff that is available there in mind, and I'm always looking to expand my tastes. My latest downloads: 5 Joe Hendersons, 5 Art Blakey & the JMs, 2 Cannonball Adderleys, 4 Oliver Nelsons...I love that place. So many of these are so good I want to purchase real cds to own the liner notes and better quality audio (guilty downloader conscious).

Thanks Free For All. AMG's review seemed almost too sparkling...

Priceress!

I like Doo-Wop and oldies though I don't own a lot of it. I have some Brenton Wood from my old cruising the boulevard days... B)

As far as Duke Ellington goes, I know nossink. However, I really dig the few Kenny Burrell albums I have. AMG gives these high ratings, do y'all think these would be a good intro to Ellington? Any advice would be appreciated.

Follow up to "jazz is so relaxing" thread

I've watched jazz I play put people to sleep. I think it is related to an attention deficit disorder. -
What profile is that? Kobe has not come across to me as having anger towards women/issues with women; no substance abuse problems coupled with violent tendencies...no violent tendencies at all...rapists usually have those characteristics, don't they? I remember when Kobe got socked by Chris Childs and tried to answer--looked like he'd never thrown a punch in his life.

The girl's credibility has taken a number of hits in a short period of time. She has been called a "known Denver Nuggets groupie"; it is reported she tried out for American Idol and upon failing attempted suicide via an OD on pills;and she has had the police to her house twice recently making accusations in which no charges were filed. Kobe's credibility has taken the hit that he committed adultery. Rapists do tend to fit a profile that does not match Kobe's, to reiterate Christiern's point.

The world has no shortage of people who get married but have no respect for what marriage is supposed to be all about. Professional atheletes are subjected to more opportunities to cheat on their wives than most, but it doesn't make them the only ones who commit this sort of crime nor is it an excuse to do so. I hope that if I am lucky enough to fall in love and get married that I can look my wife in the eyes and know she is telling me the truth and know that I am telling her the truth. Mutual trust, honor, respect...I intend to MEAN IT should I enter into such a sacred agreement. My parents have been married for over thirty years--what they have is priceless. I thought Kobe was more like myself in that respect. Very disappointing.

I'll wait for a verdict, but I know my gut feeling agrees with Christiern and Soulstation1.

Lakeshow has the rest of the league flinching. The floor will be spaced, and the big two will feast.

You need more my friend. I picked up the OJC/Milestone disc Joe Henderson in Japan. The version of 'Round Midnight is sparkling. The last track Junk Blues is a burner as well. In 'n Out on BN is great too. Gotta love the duo of Kenny and Joe. Thanks for the suggestions, Templejazz. Joe is definitely high on my exceptionally long list of musicians I need more by. Downloaded The Kicker and Tetragon last night, they await my ears at home. I'm going to get the other available albums tonight after I burn these two.

I reach for Thrust or Mwandishi first for electric Herbie, but I love Headhunters. The latter portion of "Chameleon", as I said on the other thread, has drumming that is incredible to these ears. "Vein Melter" pushes all the right buttons for me.

I have it and like it just fine, though it isn't a favorite. "Terra Firma" is the stand-out track, IMO. I only have this and Mode For Joe as far as Joe Henderson-lead discs go. I reach for Mode For Joe first.

When it first came out several reliable reviewers gave it an enthusiastic thumbs down. Apparently Beck's music is not structured well for this purpose. I like Beck's music, though he hasn't equalled Mellow Gold IMO.

Things you won't hear Noj say: "Damned electric pianos. I hate them." "I can't stand that 1970s over-produced dreck." ...Kobe: "She asked for it." ...Rickey Henderson: "I'm too old for this shit."

Pseudo-3D Shading of Classic Cartoon Characters
Noj replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Sucks horribly. Sort of like making a live action Flintstones or Scooby Doo, it kills all the charm. Oh wait, those morons DID do that. -
I play basketball all the time, but was way too into skateboarding in school to bother with joining the team (that's my way of coping with getting cut from the freshman team and having guys I torched for years beat me onto the roster with effort alone. I missed practice all the time and was uncoachable...). I've practiced shooting the ball since I was a child but I haven't competed in a 5 on 5 setting in my life as much as the last couple of years. I'm a better player now than I ever was, but I was never too shabby. I have speed, good leaping ability, and pretty good fundamentals. I'm getting better at thinking the game and creating plays. I still skateboard occasionally at 27. I estimate I skateboarded every day it didn't rain for a stretch of about seven years from 11-18. It becomes something else once mastered, pretty cool to just ride around and pop ollies over obstacles, grind benches, charge hills...I'm not the most technical, but I do some mean wall rides and have pretty big pop. I also snowboard which is unbelievably fun. I invested in a Mammoth pass this year so I'm stoked and looking forward to hitting the slopes. Some say skateboarding/snowboarding aren't sports, so I guess hoops are my sport.
