  1. Should there be a thread for BN cds people find underrated?
  2. I've gotten a couple recently that are pretty cool: Margie Joseph and Bobby Patterson. Joe Tex "anybody want the girl with the skinny legs?" I've always dug the Isleys, Bill Withers, and nearly all of those mentioned here, but I must admit to not having any Otis Redding or Sam Cooke, and very little Ray Charles. SLEEPING!
  3. They never could equal or surpass the song "Fool's Gold." :rsmile:
  4. Johnny "Guitar" Watson Lone Ranger Mike James Kirkland Hang On In There Muggs Dust The Guitar Artistry of Baden Powell McCoy Tyner Trident John Coltrane Soultrane
  5. There was something about the simple look of the previous home page that made it seem "underground," not decorated or user-friendly--sort of cool for that reason. I'm sure it has been asked before, but did any board members write any of the reviews on the Mosaic site? If so, which ones?
  6. Good thread for me, since my only turntable is an old shelf unit. Both cassette decks and the radio are broken, but the turntable still works!
  7. 18 is a gang 'round these parts, watch your back.
  8. 1776--I was born 200 years later.
  9. Thanks Rooster--I've barely scratched the surface with Zappa having gotten Hot Rats this year. New territory for me.
  10. Wow, another vote for Ike Willis!!! I haven't heard any Ike Willis, to be honest. What about other new cats? D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott...
  11. All of the above plus Al Green, Syl Johnson, O.V. Wright, Betty Davis, Millie Jackson, and Gwen McRae.
  12. Boogaloo Joe Jones Sweetback Audio Alchemy 1&2 Charles Earland Leaving This Planet Grover Washington, Jr. Feels So Good/A Secret Place Heading In The Right Direction: Soul Jazz From Australia Syl Johnson, FUN-KY is right!!!
  13. Anyone had a gander at Jerry Lewis' noggin lately? Gargantuan.
  14. Mnytime--I read and enjoy all your posts. I hope you feel better soon, for what it's worth.
  15. Ah yes, I approached her once with some sarcasm and was treated with a quick burst of her marvellous flame thrower. Welcome Patricia! :rsmile:
  16. I saw Audioslave live and they kicked ass, far exceeding my expectations. I dig the Black Crowes too.
  17. Side note: Earl "The Tyler Rose" Campbell--responsible for some of my favorite NFL highlights.
  18. *applause*
  19. It ain't good BBQ unless you break a sweat. Mild is for cowards.
  20. Wayman Tisdale did what?
  21. Done? Not nearly. Shaq will hopefully be healthy for the regular season next year, which will make him more fit for the playoffs. Kobe is just entering his prime years, and I expect him to improve. I expect big changes among the role players, and big improvements at power forward as well as point guard. The Lakers own New Jersey, and I could care less how confident the Spurs get--they got lucky the Lakers had so many bumps in the road, that's all. Jerry West left, Chick Hearn died, Shaq delayed his surgery, Fox tore a tendon, Devean turned an ankle, Phil had angioplasty, and after all that the Lakers could still have won if Horry had gone 3 of 38 instead of 2 of 38. I am confident the Lakers will be better next year.
  22. Go Mavs. If not, go Nets. I want Turtlehead to lose. Lakeshow will be back with a vengeance next year.
  23. Me too, and that was THIS year!

    AAJ

Organissimo, Jazzcorner, AAJ... I read all three when I have time and I post sporadically on all three, but this is definitely where I come first. I can't understate how great all three are, and what makes them great is the tremendous amounts of knowledge about every aspect of this art that the regulars bring to the table. :rsmile:
