  1. It's a bit of a pointless argument, but quite a few drummers are sampled WAY more often than Bonham.
  2. I dig this guy's tunes, I only recently heard a bunch of his albums. A unique talent and sound.
  3. I saw Dan Gould with the Devil! I saw GoodSpeak with the Devil! I saw Aggie87 with the Devil!
  4. I keep wondering about this event (mentioned in a Blakey chronology). What...one too many drinks, then decide to hop in the car and zip off to the border crossing and bitch out some Russkies? I don't.
  5. Shaq has no class, I'm sorry to say.
  6. I found Carlin's most recent routine wasn't nearly as funny as his older stuff, but it's rare that talented people continue to improve with age as opposed to trailing off a bit. There were also times when Carlin would say things which were more "over the top" than truthful, and I didn't find those moments as funny as ones when he was simply pointing things out. Richard Pryor was a close second.
  7. My favorite stand up comedian, bar none. RIP.
  8. Lamest style ever. Out here the kids are doing it with those super tight jeans. It looks so uncomfortable, I don't know how they can stand it.
  9. More Belated Salutations! It's An Epic Birthing Anniversary!
  10. Belated Birthday Salutations!
  11. Happy Birthday, Papsrus!
  12. It's all in the delivery.
  13. Sangrey only makes memorable posts...
  14. I didn't think the Lakers would get past the Spurs, but Manu Ginobili was hobbled. I complained about the lack of defense since the Gasol trade, the Lakers were really just outscoring teams who couldn't match up, much like the Phoenix Suns of the last few years. The Celtics, on the other hand, created match up problems for the Lakers. Between the Big Three and all those big men they have to clog up the paint, the Lakers offense wasn't overwhelming and defensively all their weaknesses were exposed. Still, the Lakers had a very good chance to win two of the games which they lost in the Finals--the closing game was not indicative of how competitive the series was as a whole.
  15. I was surprised at the Lakers being favored too, but it was based on the Celtics struggling with the lowly Hawks and the mediocre Cavs before finding the form they'd had in the regular season about half way through the series with the Pistons. I sure wish the Celtics had still been in disarray by the time they reached the Finals!
  16. Congratulations, Boston fans. No shame in losing to a team with three perennial all-stars, but this sure is a demoralizing deciding game. Never seen so many fucking turnovers in my life.
  17. I was bummed when the Virgin near my home closed. It was five minutes away, and I was almost always the only person lurking in the jazz section. I could literally plan purchases several in advance, knowing that no one else was going to buy what I planned to buy. With that in mind, it wasn't all that surprising that it shut down.
  18. I'm not big on biographies, so I don't let the events of a musician's personal life affect my opinion of his/her music. It's not on my mind while I listen to tunes. One of the things I struggled with when I first started studying art is separating my tastes from what is relevant in art history. After coming to grips with that, it became a matter of understanding the intellectual movements despite considering the products of some of them to be absolute crap. On a personal level I might agree that some movements are merely a scheme for maintaining an elitist status quo, but that's not for me to decide for anyone other than myself.
  19. Holy smokes!
  20. I don't delve quite as low as everyone's favorite braided lip-syncers, but I do have a big playlist of pop hits.
  21. I want to upgrade to a 160gb, too. My 80gb has 14,533 songs on it and is pretty much full. Yet, for some reason I have trouble finding something I want to delete to make room for newly purchased stuff.
