  1. It's hard to tell, but those hard drives look quite big. Mine's only about 7"x4"x1"and a bit; 500g. MG They're not any larger than yours, MG. That's one 500gb and three 250gb drives. I have them backed up to DVD-R, but they sure are handy for swapping stuff out on the ol' iPod.
  2. Up: Down: CD-Rs (3 rows not pictured): Vinyl: Hard Drives:
  3. A friend of mine has nearly every Fania reissue, Alexander--I've heard great albums by just about everyone on your list. Fania is where it's at! Willie Colon and Roberto Roena are another two that aren't to be missed.
  4. A friend of mine and his wife raise poodles, they've got six or seven of them. Some are smarter than others, I must say. My friends brought two poodles on a vacation we went on together, and while one is obviously very bright and well behaved, the other is either dumb as sticks or suicidal. The stupid one almost jumped off the third floor balcony, almost electrocuted itself by chewing on a wire, refused to let the owner walk her with the leash, and was generally under my feet any time I stepped without looking.
  5. We all know I'm a huge Kobe fan, but IMO it will be a travesty if Chris Paul doesn't win MVP. He's taken his team to heights no one thought possible, and is clearly more valuable to the Hornets than Kobe is to the Lakers. Kobe has a stacked roster with proven players in Gasol, Odom, and Fisher. On the other hand, the success of the Hornets is all Paul's doing. He's made everyone on his team better.
  6. I tuned in just in time to watch the inning and see Ortiz get a flare single. As the inning progressed, I could just feel the choke coming. When Manny stepped to the plate, I thought "he's gonna hit a bomb." Sure enough, Manny hits a shitrod. Then I switched back to watch the Dodgers' Saito serve up a 3-run shot to the Pirates' McLouth and blow a one-run ninth inning lead with two outs. Ugh. It was more fun when it was Cleveland's pain and not my own.
  7. I didn't know that! Marvin was the man.
  8. Somehow I never pictured Marvin lounging on the couch when I listened to his albums. Was his band funky or what? Those cats were groovin'.
  9. It's an EMI affiliate. My big haul is thanks to my EMI inside connection.
  10. McCoy Tyner Mosaic Select Disc 1 I've had Expansions for some time, but my copy has a scratch in one of the tracks so it's great to hear it with improved sound and no glitches.

  13. Happy Birthday, Evan!
  14. I like Montara quite a bit, but if I recall it is considered a lightweight in comparison to many of the other Hutch Blue Notes. It has some really cool latin rhythms and melodies, but is perhaps a little less intense on the improvisation side of things and the compositions are less challenging(?).
  15. Aggie, I love you, man!
  16. The lovely Mrs. Alfredson! Happy belated birthday!
  17. Late to the party! Happy belated, Allen.
  18. Lakers opened up a 23 point lead early in the 4th quarter in Sactown tonight, then went on cruise control too early. Kobe and Gasol had to come back in after the lead was chopped in half.
  19. I enjoyed his acting. RIP.
  20. Disc 2 Instant favorite - "Caprichos."
  21. The Complete Pacific Jazz Recordings Of Gerald Wilson & His Orchestra - Disc 1
