It should be another epic battle, Agg. The Spurs are still the team to beat. My Lakers have a ridiculous offense, but they only defend about a third of the time. I felt bad for Chris Paul, he's quickly risen to the top of the point guard ranks--but that oft-overlooked French kid on the Spurs is no slouch (and he stuck a few daggers in Paul's Hornets tonight).

Now playing A Sense Of Direction, to be followed by Relativity and To My Queen in Walt's honor. RIP

I have two iPods associated with my computer, but I have them both set to manual. I've never used the automatic syncing. However, I don't see why you couldn't have one manual and one automatic, since those settings are in the iPod and not in iTunes.

I have two volumes of this pairing, Giants Of The Organ and Giants Of The Organ Come Together. Virtually the same except there's only two guitarists on Come Together, George Freeman replaces Mike Elf and Leon Cook next to O'Donel Levy. Cool stuff, I dig how they stretch out!

Ultimate Breaks and Beats Collections
Noj replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Miscellaneous Music
There doesn't seem to be much focus to them at all, save providing sampled tracks, rare or common. For example, Discs 1&2 contain the following tracks: Paul Butterfield Blues Band "Mary Mary" Wilbur Bad Bascombe "Black Grass" The Winstons "Amen Brother" Seventh Wonder "Daisy Lady" D.C. LaRue "Indescreet" Carla & Rufus Thomas "Do The Funky Penguin" Archie Bell & The Drells "Get Me Back On Time, Engine #9" Juice "Catch A Groove" The Rolling Stones "Honky Tonk Women" Funkadelic "You'll Like It Too" Roy Ayers "The Boogie Back" Bertini Taccani "Chella'lla" All over the place, 60s, 70s, 80s... -

I have most of those as well. The label, Strictly Beats, has done comps focusing on De La Soul, The Beat Nuts, and A Tribe Called Quest. I'm not sure whether or not these comps are legitimate or if they are bootlegs. Definitely a good way to cheat and hear original tracks before tracking down all those albums one at a time. I'd love to pick up some Baby Dodds, I've enjoyed the track Jim included on his BFT for some time. -

Portishead "Hunter" - I'm slowly warming up to some of their Third album, although I still don't care for most of it. This song, track two, is really beautiful. Joe Bataan "What Good Is A Castle" - Not the usual latin salsa bit or disco sound I've heard from Bataan, this is like a slow oldie. Really cool tune from the album Riot. The lyrics are a tad awkward, but I still love it. Dizzy Reece "Spiritus Parkus" from Asia Minor. MartyJazz included this on a BFT a long time back, but I've since picked up the whole album. My ears pick up every time this tune comes on, such an addictive theme. Chill-inducing.

Free For All just bought himself a plasma and might have some input. Once he gets a break from the hordes of trombone groupie girls down in Florida, I'm sure he'll weigh in.

Why did the chicken cross the road
Noj replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
DUSTY GROOVE: The Chicken - Crosses The Road A definite trip to Kentucky with the chicken -- a bird who's really grown tremendously since we first saw it cross the road! The chicken has a much more mature stride across the road, and its calls definitely show that change -- a shift into tighter road-crossing than before, and a really solid cackle that has it blossoming greatly as a farm animal. We loved the chicken's first flutter across the road, but we're even more surprised at the second crossing -- a complicated mix of scratching claws and aviary spurts that really let the chicken open up its wings, especially over the double yellow line, which we really like a lot. There's some loose feathers floating around too -- and these come off very well, by pushing the chicken into freshly plucked territory, yet without some of the barbeque cliches of other contemporary chickens. All in all, there's a really unique feel to the road -- and although it's been years since the chicken's last crossing, it's clear the bird's been using all of that time to really develop itself as a farm animal! Titles include "Cornish Hen", "Brooklyn Rooster", "Cockadoodledoo", "Little Egg O' Mine", "It's OK To Pluck Me", "Chicken Scratchin'", "Broil Me, Baby", "Delectable", and "In The Henhouse". -

CHUCK NESSA: First, I want to say chicken-sharing has damaged all of the poultry biz, large and small. Colonel Sanders is convinced he has lost at least 10% a year to chicken-sharing. For small poultry farms, 10% is the difference between losing money and losing more money. More importantly, chicken-sharing has nurtured a generation of young folk who think chicken should be free and crossing the road is their "right". -
Someone named "Zutty" needed a nickname? Was Zutty on Zutty's birth certificate?

GOODSPEAK: Huh? I'm saying crossing the road doesn't increase a chicken's vision. Or talent, or skill. They increase chicken muscle mass. Period. Steroids do not make chickens see the road better or cross the road more quickly. I have no idea what you are talking about. Sheesh. -

I'll be at a birthday dinner for my older brother, but I'll try to make it after. Hopefully everyone's still around, though not necessarily coherent.
