  1. I don't think "most competitive" necessarily describes the level of competition as being higher than that of the AL. The NL is more competitive with itself.
  2. I think players like TO and Randy Moss are happy as long as the team is winning and executing well. Once the team starts losing and failing to execute, they melt down into whiny children in front of whatever camera or microphone is around. All the savvy in the world on the field, none when dealing with the media.
  3. It's silly to think Torre's job is in jeopardy. The Yankees pitching staff put too much pressure on their hitters. Get some better arms, not a new Skipper.
  4. Gwynn is annoying. At one point I think the other two announcers were seeing how many ways Gwynn would rephrase the same comment about how Bobby Abreu got the majority of his hits during the regular season with two strikes.
  5. I don't leave home without my Vans! Currently sporting a pair of these, in light blue/dark blue.
  6. I dress the same as I have since I was a kid. Jeans and khakis and surfer shirts, baggy cargo shorts and skateboard shoes.
  7. Many say Karl Dorrell's job is in jeopardy at UCLA--but there have been so many key injuries it's tough to say how much of this collapse is his fault. Starting QB (and second string QB), best receiver, best defensive lineman, others are all out now. Still, the alumni lose their patience fairly quickly in this town...
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Happy Birthday, DC!
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. I think aloc bit my style big time. Copywrite infringer!
  12. Great singing, Jim! As good a cover as I've heard.
  13. Colts are likely without Marvin Harrison, and Joseph Addai might have to sit too.
  14. I'm not concerned with being hip or cutting edge or anyone else's tastes or whether or not it's a hit record the record company is pushing or if it's something which barely made a ripple and should have made waves. If I like it, I like it. No one's telling me shit. Incidentally this Beasties recording...meh.
  15. Raiders have already equalled last year's win total. Culpepper should have been starting from the jump.
  16. To be fair, just put me down for the lowest score since I forgot to post--6-10.
  17. My favorite track is "Nakatini Suite."
  18. One phrase made me cringe when reading that essay: "even girls like it." Otherwise, I'm pretty much on the same page.
  19. FWIW, eyes are full-grown at birth.
  20. A very good friend of mine married the mother of his daughter about five years ago, in a bit of a shotgun wedding. The marriage had been without romance for several years and ended recently in a fairly amiable split. So, marrying for the sake of a child doesn't necessarily help the situation. Pregnancy with the wrong girl makes things messy, that's for sure.
  21. Noj, I was rootin' for your guys to win that one. I heard whistles before the kick so I assume the TO was called in time, but I felt sorry for Janikowski nonetheless. What a MF mindf*ck! Definititely seemed like a home field gift for Shanahan. Janikowski should have made it the second time too. Still, a 52-yarder, that's no gimme. I don't think the defense should be given that sort of demand with time outs. Either call it early enough to stop the snap of the ball, or the refs should ignore a defensive team in that situation. I know I've seen them ignore coaches in that situation in the past, or maybe they just ignore the Raiders. But hey, it was in Denver so Shanahan gets whatever his little elvish heart desires and the ball gets spotted an extra 12 inches every time the home team runs the ball. I hate the NFL. What Shanahan did was completely within the rules. A few years ago they gave coaches the right to call timeouts from the sideline, what they usually do is call the ref over and let them know that they'll be calling a timeout "at the last second" prior to the snap. As long as they gave the ref the heads up that the timeout is coming, they are granted the timeout. What Shanahan did was the new millennium version of "icing the kicker"...and in this case it worked. I still think it's kind of shitty, but there is no cheating involved. I don't want to hear that kind of good reasoned argument, I'm trying to whine here. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll continue to wallow in the agony of Raider fandom.
