Can someone give me more info about the 1959 film Cry of Jazz with the Sun Ra Arkestra? Is it worth having it - it's a semi-documentary I understood - gives it a view on the Arkestra? Is it about Sun Ra's music or is he only part of the sound track?

Track 5: Great music. The piano player reminds me of Larry Willis. Or could it be Elmo Hope on piano with Percy Heath or Leroy Vinnegar on bass?

I guess that the VHS tape on Amazon is the Robert Altman film "Kansas City". I was talking about the Robert Altman DVD "Kansas City - Jazz '34". Altman tells about the Kansas City music style of the 1930s and uses the complete jam sessions he filmed for the film "Kansas City" to illustrate. Really a great documentary. Durium
