  1. It's a shame that journalists can't get the story straight (or choose to report in a way that is misleading...) Obviously other things must be taken into consideration such as muscle mass and muscle/fat ratio etc. when assessing weight. That Dr. Fleming would even make this a "story" just shows me that he either doesn't know what the hell he is talking about or is more interested in making headlines. Obviously Dr. Atkins' weight gain was due to fluid retention secondary to organ failure caused by his head trauma and had nothing to do w/his diet. Did Dr. Fleming actually expect us to believe that he gained that weight in the hospital eating steak and cheese omelets? Also, his heart ailment was found to be viral in nature... not diet in nature.
  2. Happy Birthday! Party like an animal....
  3. I'm a-fwaid....veh-wee a-fwaid
  4. Happy Birthday! Yay! Bier!
  5. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!
  6. Hi Ghost~ Thanks for the kind thoughts. I've been in remission for 7 years, so I'm doing well. I just have to ride a bike or walk instead of running these days. I've been in Indy since 1987 and live near Eagle Creek. Let us know how your training progresses; it's nice to experience The Mini vicariously. I'm also thinking that our "Jazz Kitchen" could use a dose of Organissimo, the band.
  7. Hey Ghost~ Do it!! I've run "The Mini" several times (back when they thought having 10,000 participants was huge...) I started out as a 3 mile recreational jogger and trained just as Clementine and jacman have suggested (building up my long runs, 3 days on, 1 day off etc) and did well. Didn't win any medals or anything but I finished (back then we finished on the Track--exhilarating). Watch out for those banked curves on the Speedway Track; they're killers! Having a bout w/cancer and subsequent surgery has prevented me from running as exercise, but I fondly remember those years that I actually *did it*. It will prove to be one of the defining moments of your life.
  8. OK.... I'll try another guess and you can try out another nickname for me. That one just won't work.
  9. I don't think I'm a "dildie" but I'll throw out an answer anyway. Didn't watch the Cheers episode but I know the Coconut Grove in Boston burned down because of Christmas decorations. So either they were smoking which seems to be illegal everywhere these days or they had a big ol' fake tree with Christmas lights that were not "in code".... Am I right? Do I get a nickname?
  10. Comment (Dorothy Parker) Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song, A medley of extemporanea; And love is a thing that can never go wrong, And I am Marie of Romania. Jazzdog: Landlord. Brilliant. I hadn't thought of that one in years. I'm still laughing.
  11. I live near the Colts Complex and sometimes see the players in our neighborhood convenience store, usually on Mondays. I always give them their space, remain calm, let them go about their business etc. However, if I see Marvin tomorrow I might have to high five him, chest bump him and slap him on the ass. Well, on second thought, that might result in some type of restraining order, so maybe I should just keep it inside.
  12. ....and a nice little catch by Marvin
  13. Myles Grand View. Man, these games *never* work for me.
  14. Hmmmm.... I never noticed Barney's penchant for red nail polish.
  15. Once you have downloaded the software it really is pretty easy. I'm not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, so if I can do it I'm sure anybody can do it.
  16. "Uncle Buck" and "Planes, Trains..." Excellent choices. Ya gotta love "Buck Melanoma" and the vision of Steve Martin and John Candy nestled warmly in bed.... spooning....
  17. To prevent pregnacy from oral sex, silly. What do they teasch the kids in school these days, anyway? Hmmm.... do the words "chew" and "oral sex" belong in the same sentence? I think not....
  18. It *does* takes practice...
  19. Regular BCP's are not like horsepills--I don't get the benefit of chewables.... (she says while trying to keep a straight face and obviously avoiding the great punch lines associated with the number of times the word "swallow" is mentioned...)
  20. Humble Pie's "Thirty Days in the Hole" Foghat's "Fool for the City"
  21. Thank you very much, guys. The guy/girl ratio is kinda sweet around here. I'll just try to stay out of the sports talk as I can throw down the smack quite well but karma has a way of punishing me for it as evidenced by the Colts latest loss to the Jaguars. RE: The Trio.... I definitely had to road-trip it for this tour (well... just about every tour, I guess) but I lucked into Hamilton having two shows and being fairly close to me. I briefly spoke to Pat after St. Louis (and was able to form actual sentences (!), and he said he would probably record w/this line-up. Since the stuff he wrote specifically for this trio numbered up to 27, those being the "working titles", I'm thinkin' he has plenty of material. I also heard that there is new Parallel Realities tour in the works for 04/05 w/DeJohnette/Hancock/Metheny/Holland.
  22. *warning: new girl in the room* "Turnaround" "Soul Cowboy" "Canteloupe Island" "Question and Answer" (have you recovered from that one yet?) Just saw 2 shows in Hamilton Ohio; he debuted #27. I really can't put that one into words except to say that the rumor is that a live recording will be done in Japan and hopefully #27 is front and center.
