  1. Yes, a lot of quality stuff here. Here is a link to the webshop: https://aerophonicrecords.com/category/catalog/
  2. For full geriatric experience go to a classical music concert. I was at one a week ago and there were barely any non-grey (or alternatively, non-bold) heads in the hall, which was nearly at full-capacity. This created a somewhat morbid contrast with the orchestra (Wiener Symphoniker) which was full of young players. Well, I saw Tomeka Reid in duo with Jessica Pavone a few weeks ago, and there were probably 25 people in the audience (yes, mostly old dudes). Reid is supposed to be fairly well-known, right?
  3. Yes, I am aware of this, this is why I was wondering about other European broadcast recordings Mr. Uehlinger might consider for release.
  4. Swiss concept of English played a role as well, I guess. Did Mr. Uehlinger mention if he plans to release more European radio broadcasts (like Giuffre and Coltrane Graz recordings)?
  5. The only thing about them I remember is that I enjoyed them a lot. Will need to relisten to refresh my memory.
  6. Well, by "contemporary musicians" I did not mean the the guys who recorded in 1961.
  7. The sound quality improvement on Coltrane's Half Note recordings is quite dramatic, so I am a convert.
  8. Yes, and European Tuba Quartet releases too: https://www.discogs.com/artist/2014401-European-Tuba-Quartet
  9. I think this is an enjoyable release overall. Dunbar (drums) and Preston (keyboards) are fascinating to listen to. Jim Pons is not a great bassist but has a nice baritone voice that provides a pleasant counterpoint to Flo & Eddie's screeching tenors. Zappa is the only guitar player and I love his rhythm guitar work (something you won't hear much post-1975). His solos - while not his best ever - are consistently interesting. And well, I quite like Flo & Eddie. I could do without comedy routine stuff, but when they sing - they do sing. I wish they included the infamous ("smoke-on-the-water") Montreux gig, but well, you get 10 hours of music already. The sound quality is excellent.
  10. Well, Flo & Eddy could definitely sing, and Aynsley Dunbar was the swingiest drummer Zappa ever had, IMHO.

    Red Mitchell

Solid Records of Japan issued two CDs (with strikingly creative artwork) of never-before-released Mitchell studio sessions recorded in the Netherlands for Timeless in 1989. With Dado Moroni, Sweets Edison, Ben Riley and Adrienne West on a couple of tracks: https://www.discogs.com/release/25374409-Red-Mitchell-And-Friends-feat-Harry-Sweets-Edison-Days-Of-Wine-And-ROses https://www.discogs.com/release/24697517-Red-Mitchell-And-Friends-Teach-Me-Tonight Nice stuff, Mitchell's heavy pick-uped bass and wrooom-wrooom style notwithstanding.
  12. Well, having a distributor for CDs does not make sense economically for anybody involved. Bandcamp probably does, I hope Mr Davidson finds strength, enthusiasm and resources to set it up (and I am sure he's sitting on potentially releasable treasure trove of stuff that never saw the light of the day).
  13. Just noticed a note on the EMANEM website (my emphasis): This web site is closed for sales during the winter. Unfortunately, the local post office (really a sorting office) closes at 10 AM. This means that, in order to post something, I have to get up and go out early before the day has warmed up. I am feeling too old for such a routine, so I am hibernating until the spring and then will see how I feel. (I always wanted a long life, but did not want the limitations and frustrations of old age!) During my hibernation, I hope to be able to investigate that possibilities of putting downloads on Bandcamp, and also reduce the prices of much of the existing stock for sale after the winter. I am not expecting to issue any new CDs, nor to reissue or repress any CDs. M.D. Not surprising, Mr. Davidson (one-man-Emanem) turned 80 this year.
  14. My mailbox is begging for mercy on this bandcamp Friday... Meanwhile, a November best-of-jazz bandcamp write-up. Except for a few well familiar operators, I barely know anybody from the list - which is good. Plan to skim through these tonight. Had a cursory listen to some of the CDs from the Barry Guy Not Two boxes. This Percy Pursglove guy is something else. Curious about the Barry Guy / Vandermark combination - avoided Vandermark for decades (I guess the last thing of his I enjoyed were AALY Trio discs - and these are 20-25 (!) years old now). Yes, streamed it a couple of times, great stuff.

    Ben Webster

In Hot House, a Ben Webster live date with Tete Montoliu trio recorded in May 10, 1972 reissued on CD for the first time: https://www.discogs.com/release/25329898-Ben-Webster-In-Hot-House
  16. Lady Bug Dance just reissued on CD (for the first time).
  17. Thanks, Gheorghe.
  18. Not too much "50's Miles" - like?
  19. What are you referring to?
  20. Yeah sure, him too.
  21. Trumpeters who would have worked better on Ascension could be Manfred Schoof and maybe Jacques Coursil - but probably a couple of years later than 1965.
  22. RogueArts offers 30% off on a few CDs for the next three days: https://roguart.com/news . Got me some goodies.
