  1. So, now that it's unanimous, I could have a problem. I am currently winning an auction on ebay for some BLACK Dragon II PRS pickups which would be a big improvement sound-wise. So the Black / Chrome option, may not be an option.
  2. Due to the overwhelming response to the poll. I must end the voting to avoid crashing the server. Looks like since Ron voted twice (thanks Ron) each optioin got... let's see... carry the one... Yes, one each! Obviously Ron's second vote cancels his first so it's a dead heat. I think I will break the tie and choose option #3 The black trim with chrome pickups. I like the contrast of this option and the neck and headstock are still black so it brings it all together a bit more. It reminds me of the New Orleans Saints which I grew up pulling for. (That's how I learned to be a gracious loser and learned that football is not all that important) Who knows I may even throw a fleur de lis on it eventually.
  3. How about BOTH! Black and chrome. Please recast your votes with new choices being: 1 Cream / Chrome 2 Cream / Black 3 Black / Chrome (Black / Black not included because I don't lke it)
  4. Just a reminder... BLUE JOHN by John Patton features Braith as well. (My favorite of his playing)
  5. I think some of Ben Stiller's movies have been genuinely funny throughout. I recently saw MEET THE FOCKERS and thought it was pretty good.
  6. Well, I like Ferrell. He has had some duds but generally I like him. Comedy is very individual. This has never been more obvious to me than watching a few recent movies. #1 Napolean Dynamite. I admit it, I don't get it. The premise of the movie is funny. The characters are funny. A few funny things happen in the movie but as a whole, not funny. I guess I'm too shallow or stupid to consider a movie funny because the theme is funny without the actual movie being funny. #2 That Aquatic movie with Bill Murry. Same story, funny idea for a movie but not a funny movie. Very few truly funny moments.
  7. I'm getting it. The Rick James and Prince stories by Charlie Murphy are priceless! Two more Charlie Murphy stories as well!
  8. Here's your chance to vote! I've got a set of black and chrome pickups of similar quality and sound that would both work in this guitar. Which look do you like better.
  9. I think everyone has their own favorite and everyone is right. They are all good and all different. They are a band that evolved album to album and did it year to year not decade to decade. Personal preference may make you gravitate towards one more than the others and over time you can find yourself changing your mind about about which one is "the best." That's part of their genius. Most of their music stands up very well over time, dare I say it's timeless. More relavent today than 80's glam or even 90's grunge. My mother LOVED the music in that Cadillac commercial and used to turn it up real loud. She was floored when I told her that was Zep! A hilarious moment indeed! And yes, they did invent Heavy Metal. "Good Times, Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown" are more than just heavy blues. Black Sabbath was released the following year. Oh yeah, the remastered are a big improvement over the old releases. Get it, Get em all!
  10. Here's a preview of the final look along with the inspiration guitar, a PRS goldtop.
  11. Here's the body after clear coat - again (3 cans this time)
  12. Here's a picture after sanding down to the patch trying to figure out what went wrong. (After this, things got too ugly to photograph.)
  13. Gold Cort update: Putting on can three of clear coat over the next day or so. Once it gets dry enough to handle I'll post some pics. The color is nice! Darker than the first time. I have been loving my McCarty pickups in my semi holow Cort! It's got me digging aroung on ebay for a set of PRS pickups to drop into this gold baby. Something a little hotter maybe like Dragons or PRS 7s or Tremontis. I've now got several sets of decent humbuckers that I'm not using if anyone needs some I'll hook you up cheap. I've got a set of Epiphone humbuckers (chrome, 2 lead wires,) a set of Powersound humbuckers (black, 2 lead wires, Mighty Mite makes them I think,) a set of Mighty Mite LPs (chrome, 3 lead wires for coil tap) and Stewart MacDonald Golden Age humbuckers (black with three lead wires for coil tap)
  14. Well... Anyone get this one yet? Did it come out on 5-10 as scheduled?
  15. I second that! I also like their latest.
  16. Our oldest in only 5 so spelling still works quite well.
  17. Those look like working hands! I don't have any of those around here. This is supposed to be a hobby. Sanding by hand is too labor intensive - feels like work, not fun and having toys... I mean tools is part of the fun! I did in the end, do much of the sanding by hand. The Charvel body is flat and the sander is working well on removing that finish. My sander is the Craftman version of that mouse sander by Black and Decker. Got in on sale for $19.
  18. I got one of these this week from "a banker" in Madrid who knew of a fortune in an unclaimed account and he was going to help me claim the money and then we'd split it up and then he was to destroy all the records at the bank so we'd be scott free!! I thought about calling the FBI but then I remembered that this kind of thing is not illegal in many countries.
  19. I watched the Fulham / Norwich game, the announcers kept giving updates on the others which added drama. I really haven't seen that much of West Brom to be honest. Our soccer channel focuses on Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal. I've seen quite a bit of Norwich by chance I guess. After quite a few draws early on against quality sides I thought Norwich would eventually win a few and go up in the table. I guess they made their move too late.
  20. Tonight when the English posters tune in, this will all make sense
  21. Well, it came down to the wire but unfortunately, Gary's Saints are headed down. Fulham (my adoptive team who I have reclaimed since McBride is getting more playing time) looked really good today in a 6 - 0 romp over Norwich. I was hoping Norwich would stay up. They are very entertaining to watch and always play with great spirit. McBride is finally proving his worth to Coleman. I think he's always had the ability to score but saw such limited playing time it wasn't happening. He's much more than just a scorer or a big target, he sets up quite a few goals interacting with Boa Morte, Malbranque and Collins John. I hope Bruce Arena has been leaving McBride off the US National team to develop new talent and will use him more as WC qualifying continues. He's certainly head and shoulders above Conner Casey and sure Eddie Johnson looks good in MLS but McBride is scoring goals at the highest level. The bottom race has been more fun than the top as the CL and UEFA spots have been secured already. I hope Arsenal thumps Man U in the FA Cup final. Man U always plays such dirty football when they face Arsenal. It's like they know the only way they can win is to rough the Gunners up and at Old Tratford they're allowed to get away with it. Arsenal looks in top form and the trounced Everton 7-0 the other day so Man U better look out.
  22. Does this mean I won't be able to use it? The flat parts weren't really too much trouble but the carved top gave me lots of grief!
  23. I actually bought a little sander the other day. It works well for a while but the paint really gums up the paper. I have been eyeing a Dremel as well and if I keep on doing htis I'll probably get one. The sander that I got has "finger" attachment to get the corners.
  24. Update on my guitar project: As I mentioned I sanded down to the original finish to try to fix the problem and decided it would be too hard to try to blend the repair so I sanded off all my work and started over. This time I had a lot more problems with small flaw which were caused by sanding. (Note to self and others planning on refinishing a guitar, DO NOT use drill with paint stripping attachment !!) No problem, I head to the auto parts store to get another can of Harvest Gold Duplicolor. None. Second store - none. Third, fourth - none. At the last store in the area I got lucky with an overzealous sales person who got on the horn and called several regional stores, his purchasing manager, and eventually, the Duplicolor rep who was able to find a can. Apparently the color has been discontinued. They sent me a couple cans and when it rings up at the register... $1.00 !!! The salesman said it was in the computer as a clearence item so it was only $1 per can. I felt bad as the dollar probably didn't cover the shipping for them to send it but he insisted I pay only a dollar. Even better news, the color is more gold than the last can. Closer to the color I had in mind in the first place. So to bring you up to the present, I have sanded off all previous work, patched flaws, primed, and now applied the color. After a couple more days I can start with the clear coat again. On another note. I installed those PRS McCarty pickups in my semihollow Cort tonight and it sounds smooth as butter. It has a great clean sound and that smooth distortion a la The Allman Brothers.
  25. I thought the same thing. The Bleeps make it *BLEEPIN* hilarious!
