I'm going to bed. My load just went off.

Reminds me of a guy I went to school with (sadly this was medical school) and he had a thousand different euphamisms for "polishing guitars" Here's my absolute favorite... wait for it... Wrestling the baldheaded champion!!

She knows me so well. As I was telling her what all I had planned for the weekend (which was VERY ambitious) She says "You're going to play guitar all weekend and nothing else." Doh! Well, she's wrong. I not only played guitar. I set up the guitar, installed pickups, polished a couple other guitars, tried to fit the new one in some cases I have, played my other guitars for comparison, posted here about my new guitar, looked on ebay at guitars. So, she's not so smart after all! Oh, and I watched basketball (she didn't see that one coming!)

Hey I got a good idea. Let's talk about other boardmembers while they're asleep and them Jim can delete them and they will never know.

What in the world are all you doing still up at this hour? I see the full membership of ORGANISSIMO is in the house. Back from a gig? Doesn't anyone have a date or a gig or just plain need to sleep? As for me, my wife's out of town and when the cats away... there's a lot less furballs around the house! I'm doing laundry actually because I said it would be done before she returned and she's coming back early because one my girls is puking her guts out and I haven't done it yet because I've been playing my new guitar.

Don't say I didn't warn you about that woodworking!

While I've got my dictionary... DISCOGRAPHY - The who, who else, when, what, where, and how something was recorded.

I alway had to laugh at the sign at a music store where I used to take lesson. NO STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN AND ABSOLUTELY NO ENTER SANDMAN!
-
Has the rightful owner seen it yet? And if so would they notice if you pulled the switcheroo? It is at your house and you know, possesion is 9 tenths of the law.(I have absolutely no idea what that means) "Hey this organ looks different than at the music store." "Uh, yeah, I think its the lights in here." B-) "Hey, what you got under that sheet over there in the corner?" "Oh, that's my wife's... sewing machine. Yeah, sewing machine. You should see her sew! Can I show you to the door?" I know you would never do anything like that.

I used to have LOTUS before I was listenening to so much jazz. I really can't remember what it was like. Are these similar to CARAVANSERAI?

I prefer the T-Bone splits.

How does that Cool Cat play?
-
I think later on there's a bigger difference and it's easier to tell but if your talking about them in The Jazz Messengers when Hubbard is playing more... well, like Lee, I think the nuances of Morgan playing a little "hotter" and his slurring are the biggest differences.

If at first you don't succeed... read the directions!! Last night I didn't fool around too much with the coil tap on the new Cort. But this morning I realized it just didn't seem right. When I installed the pickups I wired them to the pull pot switch like the stock pickups were wired, ASSUMING the pickups were wired the same. Well, you know what they say about assuming... So I dug out the old wiring diagrams for my pickups and found the correct way to wire them to a pull pot switch and... Gee, imagine that... it works. Now this guitar is SWEET. One of the points people made in the reviews I read was that the coil split sound was not too good. Well, with these pickups it IS good. If I could only keep ONE guitar, it would be this one. This would really be an ideal guitar for the stage. Such easy access to a variety of sounds from a lightweight, well balanced guitar that the CHICKS would dig! (Sound like Cort should hire me to sell these things doesn't it?, Sorry.)

It's a deal! $50 with $250 shipping.

I got the new Cort set up last night and it is playing and sounding FINE! I put my other pickups in (My best soldering job in a while. I was going to post pictures but my wife took the camara on her trip to grandma's) Very versatile guitar! My Epiphone Les Paul is definitely for sale. I'm not sure Ebay is the way to go. There's about a million Epiphone Les Pauls listed. Any suggestions on selling it?

Burning a disc w/ just MAD solos by Woody Shaw.

Curtis Fuller!? -
That's the way I felt and the suprising thing is, he was the one I was least excited to see! Has he got any playing like that recorded? I have a couple of his early ones and they are solid but not like what I saw the other night!
-
I can usually differentiate the two because of Freddie's tone which is "warmer." The temperature analogy doesn't really hold because certainly Lee blows "hotter" than Freddie. But you know what I mean.

Just another plug for these cuts outs if you can find them. My Hastings still has a lot. I've picked up several and haven't been disappointed yet. Today I got Bruce Katz Band TRANSFORMATION - I recognized his name, I think from Ronnie Earls band but I could be mistaken. I also got that self titled Bennie Wallace with Tommy Flanagan For $2.99 it's hard to beat!

Alfredson and Soul Stream, Do you guys have that Jeff Palmer on Audioquest, EASE ON? It's been growing on me. I like his playing. Very Youngish. Are you guys familiar with him? (or anyone else, but I thought they would be most likely of anyone.)
-
Also, what kind of solder do you use. I was having crappy results until my dad hooked me up with some solder with lead in it. That lead free stuff is for the birds! I don't think I do enough work for it to be a health concern.
-
Jim, I usually do all those things except for the wet sponge, which I will try. I usually wipe it off on a piece of newspaper which I usually use as a protective drop (got that from my dad now that I think about it.) I have a soldering "gun." When you pull the trigger it heats up pretty rapidly. I like it because in tight spots you can make sure you're clear of everything before it gets hot instead of burning another wire's insulation etc. Guitar guts can be pretty tight spaces. The "ugly" ones are usually the ground to the back of the pot. Pickups especially seem to have ground wires that are difficult to tin for some reason (I'm not sure what they are made of) and then the pot surface is nearly impossible to tin. You're supposed to use some kind of grease which I don't have, so I have to mooch off another connection that's already there and THATS when things get UGLY!
-
Anyone do any soldering? I bet Alfredson does on his B3. My connections are UGLY. I should post a pic of some my poor pots. There is like a little mini reproduction of the rocky mtns on some of them. Once I saw a likeness of the Virgin Mary! Upside down it was the bust of Elvis! How do yours look?
