Clem, One more post like that and I'm calling the cops! Maybe even the FBI! B-)

Your comment on the soundman seems to be the norm. Who are these guys? Why can't venues get people to run the boards who have a decent ear. I was so disappointed once seeing my friend's organ trio play. At one point you could hardly hear the organ!! Their setup is organ bass drums. If you can't hear the organ you're missing quite a bit! They never seem to get my buddy's bass right either. In that trio setting he ought to be heard as a featured instrument. If I knew how to run the board I would have gone over there and shoved that dude out the way! He ruined the whole show.

Where does this Dr John fella live? I can make the "arrangements"
-
By the way, how convincing am I in this role? This feels really good to me. Barking orders and making things happen. Power baby! Give me POWER! I'm just kidding of course. If this was FOR REAL I'd make a few late night visits accompanied by a certain "friend" and the next thing you know you'd have an album on Nessa Records, recorded in Alfredson Studios by Jim Anderson with special guest appearances by Jim Sangry, Free For All, Rooster Ties and any other sucker musicians we can track down! CAUSE THAT'S HOW I ROLL!

So you really like the new B3 huh? Maybe you should change your name to "New B3er"
-
Guitarist are a dime a dozen! B3 masters are a rare breed! You're GOLD baby, GOLD!! No guitarist means one less plane ticket and the sooner you make the trip!
-
I got my eye on you B3er! My client's not going to be tricked with the old double negative! Don't make get all Ben Wallace on you!
-
All but about 10 and closing fast! Have gifted, traded or sold McMaster versions to clear the way (Including The Gigolo which was not RVG'd ) Don't have any Japanese issues so I get all the domestic RVG's and I LOVE THEM!
-
Ok, so instead of studio time, we're talkin plane tickets. That bumps up the release date to Fall / Winter 2005!

Surely you know someone who can record off the soundboard at a couple gigs. Pick out a few inspired preformances and make some CDRs. We buy them up. You sell a few at gigs. You take the money, get yourself some studio time. Badda bing badda boom you got yourself a CD. Now you got something to bring in a little extra dough at gigs, toss around to the big wigs of the music industry and give as Christmas presents to the family. OK? So let's have it. I'll set the release date for the live CD for April 5. Advance orders taken now. Cash, check, money order, paypal all accepted. That should put you in the studio late 2005 / early 2006 (send me your schedule and I'll nail down the date) Release of the studio album summer 2006. OK, lets get started. Send some Photos from live performances to AfricaBrass and let him start work on the artwork for the CD cover. AB, I want a presentation of some rough ideas on my desk by March 8th so get busy! (By the way, the fee for my career planning services are very reasonable. We can work out the numbers later. But for now, we have a record to make!)

I don't know the ins and outs of the industry, but I believe Blue Note can license another label, in this case WATER, to release music that they own the rights to. I am sure Blue Note did not sell the rights to the music, probably more of a lease for a period of time or number of issues. Water has been releasing several Blue Note titles mainly form the 70s. Rare Groove type stuff.

Soul Stream, congrats on "the promotion." Do you have anything on CD with any of your groups. Never seen you pimping them. Don't be shy... show us what you got! Let us have it! Lay it on me! Testify!

The new "Pay-It-Forward" Music Giveaway Thread!!!
scottb replied to Parkertown's topic in Offering and Looking For...
It reminds of a boardmember's (Jsngry I think) recent analogy of the crack rock rolling under the couch. You start throwing around free jazz around this crowd and you better stand clear! GRASS ROOTS to Conn! PM me with the address! -

You're kidding right? I'm PMimg my address just in case you're not!! -
The Jeff Plamer was the one I picked up yesterday and I was pleasantly suprised. The Bennie Wallace with Tommy Flanagan also looked good.

The nearby Hastings has A LOT of Audioquest punchouts for CHEAP! I was not familiar with the label but there were many interesting looking titles with players like Mike Stern, John Ambercrombie, Tommy Flannagan, Charles Fambrough and I thought I saw Curtis Fuller on one of them but can't seem to find it now on the list. Anyway if anyone is interested I could ship it to you for about $5 with discounts for multiple discs. Here's an list of their TITLES. I didn't see all of these there but most of them. If you're interested let me know.

Here's a little something I cam across. This guy Scott the organ freak (not me I swear!) has a web site on which he has posted some live tapes that he recorded of Groove Holmes and Jack McDuff. Pretty cool! CHECK IT OUT!

My name is Scott and I'm an organoholic. I have taken the first step in admitting I have the disease. I had to hit rock bottom to realize it but today was my eye opener. Today beside the Groove/McGriff I also received some discs in the mail which included TWO HEADED FREAP and OPEN HOUSE / PLAIN TALK. While I was buying the Groove/McGriff, I picked up a cutout in the bargain bin of Jeff Palmer. (I assume you guys know him.) I bought that just because he played B3 and I figured he was probably good if he was playing with John Abercrombie. I am actually enjoying the disc - obviously a student in the Larry Young school. Four organ discs in one day. And this one day after downloading a soundtrack to a 1965 movie I've never heard of just because there is an organist on it who may be Larry Young! Man I'm SICK! (by the way my wife's conversion is still not going well. She commented tonight that TWO HEADED FREAP sounded like... POLKA MUSIC!!!! Ouch! That hurt. First Lawrence Welk and now Polka!

The "flying guitar circus" prodly presents:
scottb replied to casanovas347's topic in Musician's Forum
Thanks, I always enjoy your songs. I don't how many times I listened to that Jazz or Country clip. -
Have I ever? Yes. Will I again? Probably not.

He's back. Johnny Griffin at the Blue Note.

Is this a Freudian slip that you plan to be "chemically enhanced" for the performance? -
Seriously, What's the story with those organs? That one of the reasons I didn't get this one already.
-
How is this one? Anyone know. I saw it cheap in a local shop. (check out the organs on the cover! Not B3s I guess?)
-
Thanks Couw, Do you think this soundtrack has ever been listened to by so many people at one time in its history?
-
I think it's interesting how you can develop an ear for an instrument and different players' "voices." I can pick a lot of rock / blues guitarist out with just one note many times, jazz guitarists not quite so easily but I knew instantly this guy was NOT Grant. I'm getting better at the organ. I knew it wasn't Jimmy and that is was at least someone playing like Young. I'm getting better with trumpets. Byrd and Hubbard who varied their style a bit more can still trick me. Pianos, if it ain't Monk I'm stumped! Saxes are just as bad. But I keep listening...
