  1. What's wrong with Keepin' It Greazy? Some discussions have ventured lately but this is the official home of the greaze. Always has been, always will be. Amen and amen.
  2. B3er, I suggest you delete this thread before it gets outta hand. This so called youngster (I'm still not conviced he's 15!) has infiltrated our board and is threatening to bring it to it's knees with this sinister thread. I think we all understand that people have different preferences and we're all entitled to our own opinions but seeing some of this come out is going to cause some permanent damage. How can you ever forget (much less forgive) what they said about Jimmy and Dex and Lou! The only solution is to delete this spawn of Satan before it destroys us ALL!!!!
  3. You make this post: in a thread titled Worst Albums, which you started, so I assume you understand the premise. How is that not saying you consider GO one of the worst?
  4. In fact, I am confused about the word "Masterpice"
  5. Like I said, it has become my favorite Charlie Hunter. Previte uses some electronica but it works for me. Nice grooves. Other Ropeadope titles which are a must: Antibalas - WHO IS THIS AMERICA THE WORD Go to the download page and listen to the samples. If you like this kinda thing check out DJ Logic and the Philadelphia Experiment
  6. I'm going with Kat on this one. Byrd's A NEW PERSPECTIVE. I've personally never gotten through the whole thing.
  7. OK we got a name. I can play Burrell's solo to ORGAN GRINDER'S SWING so you guys work on your parts to that song and we'll have material. All we need now is a gig. Shreveport LA is sorta central to me and AL (getting your organ there is YOUR problem. I don't care if Joe does help Jim with his rig, this guitarist don't haul the B3!!) The jazz scene is so dead / nonexistent that we will likely be the best jazz organ trio in town! I'll give you guys 2 years to learn the song. See ya in 2007! Look out Shrevepit!
  8. my copy says Charles Earland on organ
  9. I wonder if any enthusiastic little Girl Scouts are selling their cookies online? Is that against the rules?
  10. Used to love Caramel Delights / Samoas then I ate a whole box at one sitting in eighth grade and haven't touched one since. Hard to beat a handfull of Thinmints straight out of the icebox!
  11. I noticed that two dates of Ropeadope's New Music Seminar is available at www.ropeadope.com for download. One date from Boulder, Colorado and the other from San Francisco. Each are 4 CDs for only $15.99. Performers include Charlie Hunter, Bobby Previte, Mike Dillon, Skerik, The Duo, DJ Olive, Lyrics Born, Les "My Name Is Mud" Claypool, Critters Buggin and the list goes on (a little further at least.)
  12. I have this one which available only online. Just Charlie Hunter and Bobby Previte. It is my favorite Hunter to date.

    RVG question

I was just thinking that if Blue Note had already released an issue with 20 or 24 bit quality they might be less likely to turn around and RVG it regardless who remastered it. For example I just bought STREET OF DREAMS which has been done by McMaster in 20 bit quality because I thought it was unlikely to be RVG'd soon. I have not yet bought LEAPIN AND LOPIN because I think it may be on short list to be RVG'd (but then again I've thought the GIGOLO was on the shortlist since 2002 so what do I know?)
  17. Kevin, stare into the picture below... you are feeling very relaxed... comfortable... you're all alone in your special place... so go ahead and type the titles of the June RVGs in a reply to this thread... no one will know...
  18. What, are you litte boy that needs permission from the grown ups? Everybody's doing it. If I knew the June RVGs, I would tell you. Just whisper it. I won't tell anyone. (are any these tactics weakening your defenses?)
  19. Very unfortunate news, I'm afraid the youngster's fallen off pace. His average is way down to 19! Probably all that crazy school work getting in the way of his jam computer jam computer It is such a shame, he showed so much potential, so much promise... and for what, a lousy education. It's just not right!
  20. Just stayed up until 1 AM to see them on Conan. It doesn't come on here until 12 midnight. Anyway, well worth the wait. They are TIGHT! The drummer rockin his 4 piece kit, the horms tighter than anything since JB, Sharon spillin' her soul, old time funk wah wah. That was the best musical performance I've seen on TV for as long as I can remember! (Yes, even including Ashlee Simpson) I'm glad they got the exposure and I hope their album does well and encourages people to get back to real music, both players and listeners alike, and stop sending all this crap up the charts!

    RVG question

I wasn't counting Mosaics or Conns. I had forgotten about Sixth Sense. I was hoping the answer was no so I could buy with a little more confidence of not having to upgrade right after I buy. (and yes I do HAVE to upgrade.)

    RVG question

Has anything been RVG'd (in the US) that was previously 20 or 24 bit McMastered? (other than BLUE TRAIN, of course)
  23. See B3er, Jazz Kat knew where this thread was heading! This definitely needs to go back to Discography!
  24. Translation (alt take): In the warmer world hot water joins the cold and stings my cooter (I am certain about this line)
  25. Translation: In the winter time The water is cold And stings my cooter
