    Albert Ayler

I didn't like to wait so I watched the document through. It was really great. It practically told his whole story from early childhood until he died in mysterious circumstances in 1970. Lot's of his old friends were interviewed such as Sunny Murray,Gary Peacock (briefly) and his troubles with his brother were portrayed really well. Fortunately there were only a few discussions in Swedish and those vintage shots of Stockholm were beautiful. What more can I say.Grab it if you can!

Gary: I'm most likely going to watch it through in a few days.I will let you know what's it's like if I remember to post my comments here.I burned it on a DVD and and I looked some parts of it and it looked great. They interviewed his former Swedish girlfriend and they showed some vintage footage of Stockholm in the early 1960s.Sweet! If I only had more empty DVDs I could burn you a copy of it

  4. Happy birthday Brownie! Hopefully you will enjoy your birthday presents!
  5. Keith Jarrett: Carnegie Hall Concert
  6. X Man and Good to Go, a Tribute to Bu are all excellent. He played with Greg Osby in Helsinki in February.I really liked the gig.The gig consisted Monk tunes and Osby's own songs. AND his drum solos are really interesting in my opinion.

These should keep my busy for a while. Not any new purchases until Christmas (most likely)
  8. Where did you buy this set? This box set is on my purchase list as well but I'm still wondering where to get it for a good price.
  9. You lucky bastard! I had to pay nearly $9 (shipping included and delivered to Finland).Wonderful album!
  10. I heard the band at the local jazz festival and they practically played the whole album through and I was blown away.I immediately bought the cd.Highly recommended!
  11. I hope they don't change their business model as well.I've found (and hopefully will find in the near future) some VERY nice bargains at zwei...
  12. Perfect choice! I prefer Blues & Roots over Ah Um because I really appreciate its "raw" sound and very powerful performances. The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady and Blues & Roots are my most played Mingus cds.

    Mingus News

Just when I thought not to purchase any new cds for a while, I remembered this one. Can't help it.I really must buy this one since I'm a Mingus freak. *sigh*
  14. I tried to listen to this cd maybe about a year ago and I gave up after the first 10 minutes.I got a splitting headache. I'll try it again very soon.
  15. Happy birthday!
  16. I've thought of buying an external HD (USB) but I love to burn those shows on CDRS and place them in my storage shelf. On the other hand those copies take lot's of space and I have only a very small listening environment.Maybe I'll buy the external HD when I run out of space in this room.
  17. Care to share that secret way in? As Marty Balin might say, "It's no Secret." Here's a quick link in to the MP3s: www.gdlive.com/dead Thanks! Going in from the homepage resulted in an error, but this lets me right in. The Mountains > Dark Star on that 4-22-69 show is AWESOME. Would have loved to heard Jerry play that acoutsic jam thing between the two for hours... 4-22-69 is a helluva show! I also have 4-21-69 and 4-23-69 and they are also excellent!
  18. There are many download managers available that will allow you to grab multiple files using http instead of ftp. If you use Firefox, check out FlashGot used in conjunction with one of the download managers linked on the FlashGot page. I've used Free Download Manager with FlashGot, and they work like a charm. After 20 minutes or so after I had posted this,I found solution at shnflac.net's discussion board.I downloaded a plugin called DownThemAll for Mozilla Firefox. Now I just need to click on directory and select the folder where I want to save the files and it works like charm! I've already downloaded 3 1966 shows and two 1967 shows.I definitely need to buy 300-400 empty cdrs...
  19. I also heard about gdlive.com a few days ago.It was down for several months. It's too bad that FTP connection is not working to the site.I wouldn't like to download some 66-67 shows by downloading files one by one
  20. I sure did! All the more to love! The whole set is perfect.Every jazz lover should buy it immediately!
  21. Same here; that's the issue I got, and still have. Great album, great choice. I'm going to give it a spin tonight. "Fleurette Africaine" is my favorite track on the album---just a masterpiece. It's my favorite track on that album as well. There is something special about it.
  22. Attended the local jazz festival once again and listened to the following bands: Atomic Frank Gratkowski Quartet Max Nagl Big Four This was the the first time when I heard Atomic live and it was a mighty fine concert.Didn't care much about Gratkowski's gig, perhaps it was a little bit too "academic" to my taste. Max Nagl was great!
  23. Excellent choice.I love this music.I've been playing that cd for years and I never seem to get tired of it.It's easily among his best albums besides his first two RTF albums. I've also been looking for that Japanese edition for a while. No luck so far
  24. Charles Mingus: The Complete Debut Recordings McCoy Tyner: Echoes Of A Friend Thank you www.zweitausendeins.de
  25. With your "smilie" I am not sure that you were serious about this, or not. If this is a serious offer by 2001, how can I find it online? I tried to find it, but without success ... Do you have an item number? In the meantime, like most of us, I am awaiting my two orders from Concord ... you need to enter the following article code 502925 into the "Bestellzettel" to get it... my order is already confirmed. They also have added some quite nice OJC (Tjader, Manne, Golson, Mraz) that I order alongside. You can only find those via CD->JAzz-> list them all, sorted by price or Artist. They are right now not found when entering the appropriate string into the Search box Hope that helps... Cheers, Oliver Danke Oliver. I just placed the order .. I had an E24,00 credit with them, and this is one of those items that I would not necessarily have sprung for a full price ... I do have the 4-CD Debut Records Story set .. but having the complete albums will provide greater satisfaction. This item seems to be "hidden" as without the number you so kindly provided I could not call it up... Garth. Thank you for letting me know of this box set.I will order it today or tomorrow! The price is once again unbeatable! It's too bad that zwei... has some items "hidden" which cannot be found with search engine.
