    Well we know one copy of Celeste sounds good! I'll be on the lookout for another copy. Yes, the whole run of Space Dimension has a bum side two. Which is odd, because Americas are usually fairly decent pressings.

    I think it's mostly new stuff, unless I am mistaken. We live in East Williamsburg, got into a reasonable rent situation via a friend who was leaving the city. It still is extremely expensive here, even with a decently-paying job.

    Yes, probably to France, Holland or Belgium. At least the ones I've acquired from those countries seem to carry them.

    My copy of that is fairly crackly (hard to tell if it's the pressing or just life in somewhere gross - the vinyl is probably VG++). Good record that I would like to get a clean copy of.

    Was just introduced to the 1969 cartoon The Ant & The Aardvark. Fun, but the music by Pete Candoli, Jimmy Rowles, Ray Brown, Shelly Manne and company is sublime.

    It was interesting to play Daydream Nation at full blast for someone who had never heard the LP before. It was the third Sonic Youth album I bought, probably in '93, and the first to really unhinge my mind. It's not my favorite of their records but it's very important and very good.     Yeah, it looked a little rough. I only have a 5th Ave. pressing, bought in the '90s for $10. It's still in near perfect condition.

    Brent Fariss gave me George Lewis (trombonist, not clarinetist). Do I like him? Sure, although my reactions to his work within the breadth of AACM and post-AACM music haven't been wholly, deeply engaged. I need to spend more time with certain works of his. Have I seen him? Actually, never in performance, though we have met and spoken a few times. Favorite song? Music for Trombone and Bb Soprano (from the Roscoe Mitchell Quartet LP on Sackville) is mind-melting and fantastic! Like this and...

    You've gotta get your hands on I've Known Rivers w/ James Newton & Abdul Wadud I'll take note of that, thanks for the suggestion. I think that whole cohort of Anthony Davis, James Newton, Jay Hoggard, et al, may deserve more attention than they have received. Newton's first, Flute Music, on his own Flute Music Productions label, is very nice. Didn't know of that one. Looks interesting line-up and instrumentation. $50 means it'll have to be very interesting though I'm not sure of the going rate for this LP (the Anthony Davis one-- or did you mean the Newton? Don't know about that one) , I think it's usually found cheaper. I picked up my own copy in Philly for $1.00 in a bargain bin, probably because the spine of the LP jacket was scuffed (vinyl quite fine). I meant the James Newton 'Flute Music' - too many posts quoted to avoid confusion, apologies. The Davis I have but paid more than $1 !
