  1. The Ric Colbeck is one of my top ten favorite out-leaning jazz albums, easily - but I don't know if it would be to everyone's taste. It's a beautiful, well-organized and individual date. Hard to pry things out of Fontana/Phillips (Universal) hands, methinks.
  2. The German label that nicely reissued "Alabama feeling" by arthur Doyle on lp a few years back had planned on reissuing the Black Unity lp but nothing ever materialized apparently due to objections from Abdul Wadud? I'm aware of their (past?) intentions yes, not sure how far they got and if there was an ultimate "no" though. I thought the objections were from Joe Phillips/Yusef Mumin, but yeah, Rank were stopped in their tracks. It is an excellent record, really something. The Colbeck has been deserving of reissue for years - another fine, fine session. Again, I believe there was a push to get it reissued on the part of a small "audiophile" label a few years ago but that never came to pass. Shame.
  3. Did not know there was a second pressing of this. The original has been on my list for years...
  4. The Barron? Yeah, a corker of an album. Felt pretty stoked to score an LP in good nick in a brick-and-mortar a few years ago.
  5. Those are the tracks I have. Really nice; thanks for correcting me on the date being '77 for the Quintet.
  6. ^ That's happened to me before - a couple of stereo ESPs in Monaural sleeves, and I think an Impulse or two.
  7. Ah - duh. Thanks. If this is BBC stuff I may have it already, but of course better to have in a "real" form.
  8. Great news. I have the Chief CD but am down for a new transfer and package.
  9. Me too. Wonder what's on it?
  10. Aha! Didn't realize (or had forgotten) that was him.
  11. Love that clip...Pheeroan is absolutely blazing there....... Yeah, that's a strong one. I don't have much of her work in the stacks but what I have I very much enjoy. Saw her live with Shepp several years ago and it was excellent on all counts.
  12. Yeah, it has stuck around through purges...
  13. Abdul Hannan - The Third World - (self-released) Interesting session, been a while since it's been on deck.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3w8yhU-u-o
  15. I've often wondered about that one. How does it stack up against other Bluietts? Fine but not earth-shattering.
  16. RIP, Mr. Warren, and thanks.
  17. didn't know it was worth that much!! maybe one of the board members has a copy This session/LP needs a CD issue The Dutton Vocalion threads have endless pontifications and wet dream wishes concerning the CD issue of this LP. Truly bizarre that the likes of Vocalion have not yet re-issued it. It's a great session ! I just assumed the masters were lost. It is a great album. I offered someone on the board $1000 years ago and it was probably lowballing even then.
  18. Michel Chion - Requiem - (INA/GRM)
  19. David Lee Jr. - Evolution - (Supernal)
  20. Nice! Been looking for a clean copy of that one for some time... Roscoe on OTO is still winging its way to me. Did my best reviewing it from FLACs, but am looking forward to dropping the needle.
  21. Mostly Other People Do the Killing doing just that.

  22. "The Giant Awakens" will be my reissue of the year - cannot wait to hear it!! Yeah, it is a wonderful record. I have this and the other FD titles on vinyl, but completely support JLH's efforts to get them out on CD in excellent sound. Looking forward to the Joe Daley boxed set (only have the single vinyl LP) and Flute Fever (which I've never had or heard).
