    Audiophile vinyl freaks: please buy the new The Weird Weeds LP, mixed/mastered by John Dieterich. Sounds freaking incredible cranked to 12:00 on the stereo. Clearly all those attempts to blow my speakers with Aaron Russell's Who albums worked wonders.

    Thanks for the Miller clarification. Yes, I am a bonehead sometimes! I assumed the way you're saying re: Thelin is pretty much correct, though Tay-lihn rather than Tay-leen. At least that's how my Russian friend who's spent time in Sweden says it.

    I think that qualifies! Ditto. I want one of those ! I was wondering about that 'no locked groove on A3 thing', thinking it was something to do with RVG/ears/runouts - and then I remembered that thread. There is a little bump that creates about three "pops" but that's it. Otherwise dandy! I was amazed it was so cheap, especially since even green-label Prestiges are around $20 at this particular store.

    Thanks; at this point I'm taking a couple months off - August and September - to get re-settled, so maybe I'll have more perspective come fall. But yeah, if you're going to have rating systems, you shouldn't futz with them if the writer is generally not bullshitting. Though the point is taken that in my case, I tend to save the best stuff for a couple of spaces, so I could be shifting the bias. Maybe I should start reviewing lame-o CDs on that site too.

    Thanks guys. This was really helpful. Here's my gestated response to his email (which I'm not printing here). The gist of his response was that anything above 3 / 3.5 dots required ample "socio-political and cultural context apart from the music," which is often hogwash anyway.

    Another crowd-sourcing question: having never driven a uHaul and certainly never in a large city, any ideas on how to hire someone legit to do the final leg? Perhaps from CT into Brooklyn? The prospect is terrifying.
