  1. Ah - Overseas is a really fine album. Didn't recognize the title and assumed it was a snoozier 80s Galaxy joint or something.
  2. Anyone know of a good place in Brooklyn to go for a new turntable cartridge that would also recalibrate my deck? Mine (a Music Hall) seems a little wonky, all told.

  3. Are people like Todd Akin just completely fucking insane?

  4. Coltrane - Creation - (Blue Parrot)
  5. That particular Clarke-Boland LP is one of my favorites. I've got quite a bit of their work, and others might disagree with me (the Ronnie Scott's sessions, the Atlantics, and Faces also slay), but I come back to Off Limits a lot.
  6. Yes...VERY nice, thank you. All that hair.....you wonder how they could see what they were doing. Thanks for the link - didn't recognise Barry Guy with the "Baldrick" coiffure Great footage - thanks for the link!
  7. Leo Jones - Fire Engine & Crossover - (Mirrosonic)
  8. Saxophone beef!
  9. Mars - Live at Irving Plaza - (Feeding Tube Records)
  10. Thin White Rope - a band name you don't hear often these days! Big fan of True West, Opal, Dream Syndicate and that scene here.
  11. I've got an LP of it pressed so off centre it's unlistenable. happy to part with for a reasonable price ...cover's nice.... I thought it was too good to be true when I tracked it down on ebay for less than £20 and it was too good to be true BYG pressing?
  12. Yeah, all three of those are excellent records.
  13. So I played Matt & Kim over Kevin Shea's Sexy Thoughts (by accident - don't ask). My day is complete.

  14. Shit!
  15. Looking forward to the Harriott and McNair - thanks for the update.
  16. My copy of Wilkerson's "Preach, Brother!" has the name John Patton written on the back in marker. Not sure if it's THAT John Patton, but fun to think about anyway...
  17. I didn't see anything here noting his recent passing, which I discovered when looking up information following the purchase of his "Double Bass" LP. Link here. If I'm posting erroneously, feel free to close down this thread, but I didn't see a previous posting.
  18. The BNs are tight soul-jazz, quite airplay-ready, with Wilkerson as the only horn. That said, I like them, though they are quite different from the Riverside date (which I only have on CD). Seems like you scored a nice copy.
  19. So Zebulon looks fun next week. And I live in the neighborhood.

  20. Indeedy! He's also on a Denis Charles LP on Silkheart, which I still need to get.
  21. Quite looking forward to this.
  22. I dig the pre-downtown guitar skronk/turntablism William Hooker LPs.
  23. Cool, looking forward to this.
