  1. Shit, that's sad news. RIP.
  2. Really? So Bird did too (have it comin')?!? - & many others. Maybe I misunderstand your comment. Seems a little cold. At any rate, I thought she had much potential. I'll miss hearing what might have been. Absolutely agree. I had the same reaction. Hopefully, it was not intended as it came across. Boy, the thing about potential. That's so right on... just a killer. Not only Winehouse, but all the others. What is it about celebrity that pushes people to and beyond the brink? Seemed to me she had a death wish and was on a mission to do herself in. That might be cold, but since others comments of 'not being surprised' don't merit the same reaction... Also, Amy Winehouse was not Bird, nor Billie.
  3. She had it comin'.
  4. Kinda pricey for three discs but... I bet it's great.
  5. Welcome, Kent! Thanks again for the fine AAJ interview some years back. (and of course the music)
  6. Great stuff! The Hartman/Coltrane is a favorite. I had an ex who hated it. That is why she's an ex, I guess.
  7. Sweet! I'll credit Oe Fischer as the one to hip me to the fact that there are somehow two Hans Kollers in existence! I'd only known of the saxman before...
  8. yeah, but it's the most obvious one. I would like to go a week without being called that. I think if the real CT were ever called "Clifford the Big Red Dog," there'd be hell to pay.
  9. Funny - never seen/heard of that Six Winds LP.
  10. I'll pretend I didn't see that last one...
  11. My dad once asked if Booker Little and Booker Ervin were related. In a non-literal sense, I guess they might be.
  12. Ha - please stick around, indeed. I only pay homage to the great brass multi-instrumentalist; obviously there's no relation.
  13. Now that does sound interesting. I bet copies of that don't appear often, in whatever condition. As I thoroughly enjoy Naughton;s Understanding I think I need to investigate Yeah, Understanding is "the shit," but Nature's Consort is pretty awesome too. Naughton's recordings have never disappointed.
  14. I thought this was pretty much the first cover - with corresponding orange and black labels:
  15. Other than the Solal, which I don't have, those others have not seen spins in many years in the Clifford household... hmm. Earlier tonight, spun a very clean copy of this record, bought recently to replace a somewhat ratty copy: Nature's Consort - Nature's Consort - Otic Bobby Naughton, Mario Pavone, Laurence Cook, Mark Whitecage and James Duboise in concert, 1969. Beautiful silk-screened cover.
  16. Yeah, haven't bought any of their records though I've seen them live a couple of times and thought they were very strong.
  17. Thanks, Aggie - I'll have to keep an eye out for that disc.
  18. That's be like 75 percent of the Prestige catalog, probably. They didn't call it "the junkie label" for nothing. Of course, I have a feeling that particular problem crossed over to about every other label during the era. Probably true.
  19. Looks cool - who's on the Marty Cook track? The only Scofield I have in my collection (that I know of) is as a sideman on Peter Warren (b) Solidarity on Japo, with De Johnette, Ray Anderson, and John Purcell. It's a solid session though not my go-to of Warren's dates.
  20. Wonderful. Suppose the Jazz Loft Project is aware of Smith's session photos?
