  1. There is one familiar name on #15, but it isn't Ra. Edit to add that it is the drummer's date and the drummer (who is not well-known) played a cocktail-style kit, standing up.
  2. Thanks for the props; I'm glad you and others are digging it. Sorry about those bass solos - I agree that a couple of them just aren't getting it. 4: AACM is on the right track, though this is quite obscure. It is a fantastic little album, though. 10: Not Lester. 14: Yes, right time period and as far as I know, an electric tenor. 15: Not Ra. I put this on here because I wanted people to hear it, not necessarily because anyone would guess (though you might be surprised when you find out the answer). It's a very special item to me and I digitized it some years ago for that reason.
  3. Miles a "dedicated and talented [visual] artist?" Puh-leeze.
  4. It's really odd to see Fennesz on ECM.
  5. I'd be curious to know what others think of George Lewis. I have a few of his recordings that I like a lot, though I don't think I know enough about earlier forms of jazz (or heard enough of his work) to really put him in any sort of "favorites list."
  6. Funkadelic - Maggot Brain - (Bellaphon German issue)
  7. Solidarity Unit, Inc. - Red, Black & Green - (Universal Justice)
  8. Some great ears here and killer guesses. I will wait for a few more posts before confirming or denying anything, however.
  9. Yeah, perhaps and for that I would find a new way to host it. Should have the TT back in order by the end of the month (!)
  10. Shit, I'm sorry to hear that. I can try another method later tonight and see how it goes. On my end I've experienced no problems but... that's obviously different from your end.
  11. Please begin your discussion of BFT #77 (previously mistitled BFT #79) here. I'd planned to do an all-vinyl edition but, once I got back from traveling, discovered some issues with tonearm wiring. Which is too bad because I had some real doozies picked out. But then again, this allowed me the opportunity to pick some things that might be easier to source (should they be of interest) and also allow me to visit some items of recent interest in a different context than usual (i.e., more casual here). Also, I intentionally picked a few tracks that I thought it would be good to listen to and study again, because the benefit of others' ears is one that rarely gets used. Anyway, I hope you all are enjoying the BFT.
  12. Completism biting us in the asses again?
  13. Cool story! I saw Jackie play once and enjoyed it quite a bit. He always seemed like a cool dude.
  14. Whoever the pianist is, I'm intrigued and would like to check this out.
  15. A lot of my favorites have been mentioned already. For a long time, Jackie Mc was IT for me and the alto, though now I think I prefer a softer sound on the instrument. That may change, of course.
  16. Excellent date, indeed!
  17. Not issued. Strange that it's treated as though it were. Unless somebody comes up with a copy and it hits eBay / popsike, it's safe to assume it doesn't exist.
  18. I didn't think it ever came out, but I could be wrong.
  19. The Ringer is a favorite.
  20. That's one I boneheadedly skipped on when I saw a copy for $9.99 several years ago. I'm guessing it was one of those instances where my arms were already full of wax, else it would have made it home. Will have to remember to look for this one again.
  21. Oof. I'm sorry that there are problems with this and I'll see what I can do.
  22. It seems so... pointless.
  23. Yeah, that was my intent. Bill, you might have a few of these. I had to go CD-only because of some wiring problems with my tonearm that developed recently.
  24. I get the feeling that a lot of those P-Vine Japanese CDs are bootlegs.
  25. Parallel works fine. I am not a premium user myself.
