  1. Speaking of Dewey, and I'm sure this as been discussed before, but has anyone heard the session from 1968 (?) ostensibly cut for Blue Note with Joe McPhee and David Izenzon?
  2. 2 down, one castrated, and one to go.
  3. I've never had that, or Open Aspects '82. Is the latter as interesting as the Arista?
  4. Nice - I think I paid close to $20 for mine!
  5. Donald Byrd - Byrd's Eye View - (Transition JP)
  6. The band looks sweet - I'll have to get this. Thanks!
  7. Ornette - Love Call - (BN Liberty)
  8. I used to work as an aide at a facility for the mentally challenged. There was one guy there who was a HUGE Marty Robbins fan. He always referred to Robbins as "Mister Spotlight". Nobody on the staff could figure out why. This guy was obsessed with "Mister Spotlight" in a way that only a mentally cahllenged person could be, if you get my drift. Finally, one day, he had pulled me into his room and been going on about "Mister Spotlight" for about five minutes non-stop, so I had to stop him and ask him, "Rufus, what the hell is this 'Mister Spotlight' thing all about?" Wellsir, Rufus didn't hesitate one second, He walked over to his stack of Marty Robbins records & one by one showed me the Columbia logo one each - front cover, back cover, even on the lables, every onw of the accompanied by an excited, "LOOK! SEE? MISTER SPOTLIGHT!!!!!!". Rufus was genuinely delighted that somebody had taken the time to actually give him an opportunity to explain himself, and as the years passed, I came to better appreciate how he felt. So as far as I'm concerned, it's a spotlight. Rufus made a believer out of me. Dig that story.
  9. Enjoy... The Sexophone
  10. Eje Thelin Henri Texier
  11. Gotta check this out. Definitely a Monks fan.
  12. The Walter/Wendy Carlos syndrome took hold...
  13. I was wondering where my hamster went off to - Gere says he didn't have him...
  14. That shot is going on my facebook, unless you object.
  15. The first title with Eddie Gomez I bought could have been either of these BASE reissues: The Giuseppi Logan Quartet (ESP) w/ Don Pullen and Milford Graves OR Paul Bley "Barrage" (ESP) w/ Marshall Allen, Graves, and Dewey Johnson as well. Got 'em both on the same day.
  16. Pre-FMP private edition? Hold onto that one, even if it is an unruly slab o' wax!
  17. Nice, Allen - thanks for sharing!
  18. Definitely one of the most well-known obscure musicians, I would agree. Also a total sweetheart.
  19. I still buy things blindly when I can. Even something in the rare vinyl realm I'm looking for, if sound samples or a CD-R are offered, I prefer to just find out completely on my own. Of course, looking back to when I first began buying jazz records & CDs, purchases of Coltrane, Ayler & Dolphy were completely blind and a fair number of recommendations from this board I've not entirely known what to expect.
  20. Right - somehow I thought you helped that LP happen, though. The Hat Hut CD that issues the WBAI performance is fantastic as well!
  21. Saw him last night in great form (as always). Chris, you were instrumental in getting his first LP recorded, right?
  22. Yeah, seen those before. Mine's a Liberty mono with no white bar and a mono sticker in the top left corner. Sounds great.
