  1. Louis Spears - I think of him as a cellist w/ Tapscott & UGMAA.
  2. That one stood out to me also, though I've seen him as a sideman a few times (always a pleasure). I'm not clear whether these concerts feature these artists with a pickup group, or bands that they bring in. Shit, wish I could zip up to DFW on a Tuesday night for this. James is fun to see.
  3. Patti Smith - Easter - (Arista)
  4. Pairing Off I like as well, also Four Altos gets me going. Still need to get Sugan. The European Rhythm Machine records are awesome. Want!
  5. Was leafing through a '67 DownBeat and it got a pretty mediocre review!
  6. Nope--love it from beginning to end. Always loved this music, but it doesn't reveal its truths right away. Spend some time with it. And for the record, Bill never failed to do what he wanted to do.
  7. I found a copy of this in a local shop years ago. Cover is badly water damaged but the disc is fine. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I'd hoped considering the line up. Maybe time for a replay? It's not earth-shattering but it is good.
  8. And only one appears to be tossing salad whilst laughing...
  9. Allan Jaffe - Soundscape - (Kromel) w/ James Newton, Ray Anderson, Anthony Davis, Rick Rozie, Pheeroan Ak Laff and Gerry Hemingway
  10. Much to my surprise, it hasn't worked on the Joachim Kuhn and Karl Berger recordings. pick on KJ all you like, but leave my buddy jk alone. Don't get me wrong, I love JK and KhB, but I still find the groaning funny.
  11. Yeah, they're on the list. Didn't know of the second Marshmallow disc, as Ted didn't mention it. Thanks!
  12. Ah, glad to see the NYT is getting in on Ted's appearance this week. Here's some words I penned recently, too, on Ted Brown and his work.
  13. Thanks, y'all - since so many of my fellow o-boarders are on Facebook, and yesterday was a full day w/ family and friends, I didn't check in here. Still recovering...
  14. Marion Brown - Quartet - (ESP orig stereo)
  15. sure has caused some problems though... Check out that poorly written headline...sounds like 4 were sickened when it was 9 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/25/four-loko-sickened-centra_n_773597.html Yeah, but alcohol poisoning can happen easily without Four Loko. I've seen it happen on several occasions. "Dumb kids drink too much and get their stomachs pumped." So what else is new?
  16. Nice! This will be an extraordinary help.
  17. I've been curious about that place, too, but the prices are pretty ludicrous.
  18. I was at a Mexican wedding recently where a mariachi band was present, and the trumpeter (who was excellent) consistently reminded me of KD in some of the things he played.
  19. Yep, considering they've been so successful at keeping 14-year-olds from smoking, drinking, fucking and using drugs so far... Four Loko is gross but not any more dangerous than other alcoholic drinks.
  20. An offer of $30 shipped could get the rest of it, if one was interested.
